But real people get hurt, and real feelings get hurt, and potentially people end either their own or someone else's life over it. Does that mean they weren't disturbed from the beginning? No. But it does mean that even a single drop of dew can bring down a house of cards, so rather than be a douchebag and play that kind of joke on someone whether they're a douche or not, you can easily just do nothing and save yourself the agony later of going "omg I never knew he was going to do that all over a joke".

This girl I work with had someone make a fake myspace with her number and picture posted on it, and some of the nastiest, meanest shit I've ever read. Within 4 hours, about 8 guys, with obviously no brain, called her number and was harassing her, she talked to one of the guys long enough to figure out where they were getting the number. She had a feeling it was one of two guys we work with, so since I work in tech support, I did a little investigating. Sure enough this douche left the page in his temporary internet files. I printed out everything she needed, and she took it to the police. He spent two days in jail, got 40+ hours community service, and that's on his permanent record.

I can only hope something similar happens to you. The only potential "lulz" I see here is this shit blowing up in your face. You see I think a lot of us would be behind you if you had some kind of decent reason to do this. Goddamn you are making want to throw the rl card in your face.

Not the misfortune of other people, for one. It'd be a slight giggle and a reprimand for the guy who killed himself and was stupid enough to fall for it, but I'd honestly still be more critical of the guy who was asshole enough to do it in the first place.

There are plenty of jokes you can play on people that they can get over. Psychological jokes that play with emotions is not one of them.

Only in the extreme case it will make news, like a suicide in a psychological prank, if someone dies. Because animals aren't capable of doing anything out of spite, vengence, or pure malice, this is purely a human occurance led on by imagination, so your attempt at arguing that it is natural is worthless. If someone shoots a school up because he can't handle ridicule if he provoked it, then obviously his peers/parents/councilors should have noticed this a long time ago. The news fails to diagnose the real problems of school shootings, instead its easier to blame: peer pressure, videogames/music/movies, or other outside influences. Rather, they should be covering the real problems like: bad parents, gun control, inept school staff, etc.

I bet students feel much safer now that our schools are locked-down by nanny-laws and unnecessary security measures.
