I couldn't get a sense of scale for that Seige Machine. It'd be very intimidating if my character barely stood taller than the front wheel. If it's the same size as a simple warmachine, then I would be sorely disappointed (It's basically a re-skin of a warmachine with a few fancy add-ons). It looks neat, but if it's gonna spawn enemies, it better be like a fucking Trojan Horse.

Considering its distance from certain objects in the background, I'd say it's at least twice as large as the largest warmachine. So the back wheel is about as tall as a hume.

Obscenely priced relic currency would've been nice, but unlikely.

What I'm curious about, is if/how we could actually take and hold enemy strongholds, and if so, what the consequences of doing so would be.

I love that they are adding in all this stuff, but seriously, are they going to add a challenge? I mean shit, I dont think the beastmen own any past areas in lakshmi, and half the zones nobody even campaigns in. Either weaken the allied forces to where people actually have to put an effort to "save" the area or make the beastmen tougher so they can take over areas with minimal defenses easily. I have been in jugner forest at around noon (all jps in bed, very few NAs around) and 3 waves of beastmen came in, wiped the zone, beat the hell out of the tower, got bored and warped. Why didnt that take over the zone? Seriously, id like to see some actual flip flopping of zone control, not the standard basty/windy/sandy owns every damn zone on the map.

We all know davoi/oztroja/bedeaux are gonna be nation controlled in a matter of a few hours after the expansion, and I doubt that warmachine will show up for while at the rate beastmen build up their forces/get decimated.

...but some sort of Besieged update to accomodate the current Besieged vs Campaign problem wouldn't be illogical, considering how important Astral Candy is to us...
My thought on this is that if merit party people want to keep the Candysense, they can stop meriting and go protect the Candysense when an attack happens. And we all know how likely that is to happen. Matter fact, most of the OMG 754975920K XP/hour merit part people are the ones who turn their noses up at attending a Besieged.

The reason for going to Besieged should be to defend the Candysense, SE shouldn't have to add reward to make people go -- keeping the Candysense should be the reward.

    >>ThistleChaser(Don't want to make a quote train)

Well, the problem is this, out of 10 merit goers, 7 would just go to campaign(for obvious reasons) when not meritting or anything else, only 3 would actually do as you said, go to protect the candy when besieged happens. Same goes for Salvage goers. The problem is that, back before WotG was released, we would get at least 7-8/10 to protect the candy, but now we get 3-4/10 to protect the Candy, however, SE has designed Besieged's difficulty based on the time when we would get a constant 380~ people in a high level Besieged. If I can protect candy alone, I will do it, however it's not possible to do when only very few still go back to do Besieged, especially against a higher level attack.

So, would it not be logical that SE change Besieged to accomodate the fact that we don't get a constant high attendance in Besieged anymore, that the difficulty of Besieged is too high for the, now, smaller group of attendee?

    And is this derailing...?

To me it looks like the original idea was to have powerful monsters that roam certain areas to be a challenge. Players should be surprised and excited when they see one of those HNMs. But 150 people standing in a room, knowing when those monsters will appear down to the second and killing them in minutes turned that original idea into a bad joke.
I know its a novel concept but I am sure SE could make new HNMs that didn't have any of these inherent flaws.

Odds are Davoi, Beadeaux, and Oztroja will much a lot like B.Markets, S.Sandy, and W.Waters, which are obviously attackable, but I seriously doubt are claimable. That works out fine, frankly, since intel and offensive ops will be more readily available with an area that can never be claimed. What would be funny is if, in a nice turnabout, we could capture enemy generals and put them in the jail cells found in each nation. Then just like in Beseiged, prevent them, and probably their unit, from coming to battles. However, I'm sure the same thing could be done to our generals (bad-ass though they are), creating disturbingly large gaps in our forces.

I kind of like the "no drop" monsters. Whenever our ls is bored / tired of doing the same old shit, we can always go kill hydra. I personally have a blast doing hydra because I know it will be up, there is no camping, we just go and kill, same with jorm. Also I wasnt there personally, but my ls killed sandworm the other day. Yes we know it has no drops, why did we do it? Fun. Sure its great to get that claim, and get that uber piece of gear, but sometimes its just fun to fight mobs for the hell of it. I wish we could fight stuff like cerb, khim, tiamat etc when we wanted (even for no drops) just for the fight.

I was about to say, compared to the hill in the background it seems about twice as large as a regular warmachine. Difficult to tell though, I hope we're right.

Look forward to a richer, more complex Campaign!
The fact that SE realizes that Campaign is becoming repetitive is probably the most positive aspect of these update notes so far lol. The idea of techology in relation to each side sounds pretty cool and hopefully there will be some worthwhile AN items added with this update. Also, hopefully some strategic elements will be added to campaign that actually require you to think a little during the battle rather than randomly attack any mob you see.
You may be slightly joking, but I think in all seriousness that you have it dead-on. Again, that statement alone is more proof that SE is actually paying attention to the way people play the game rather than just adding things and forgetting about them.

One thing I hope they do is actually decrease the number of Campaign battles, but increase the waves of the mobs within one attack. This will mean that people will actually go some place besides Jugner and they will have more of an incentive to go to the Allied strongholds (CN, EN and GC) but they wont be missing out on much. It will also mean that the delay in when a Campaign actually shows up on the map will be of less importance.

    1) The "fun" factor wears off after killing it 1-2 times with no reward.
    2) You want to fight those mobs when you want go do Nyzul Isle or Assaults.

Probably, and old argument too. We suck! :D

It's basically a win-win if they improve Besieged, I just wish the people who merit and never Besieged (and yet bitch when the Candysense is gone) didn't get a free ride.

There's no other logical reason for the jail cells, and it also explains why there are only 2-3 in each nation (even if the entire platoon doesn't disappear with them, getting rid of every general would make it too easy). $5 says it's announced soon.

I don't think so. Maybe they seem to be too strong now, because everything is crammed into the few zones we have. But with the next update players will spread out to more areas. When beastmen armies start to launch their onslaughts, we will most likely have stronger enemies and siege turrets bombing the areas around their strongholds, and everyone will start bitching to get the strong NPCs back to stand a chance.
I hope you are right, because there really needs to be a player based challenge. NPCs always save the day and that makes this pretty dull.

That said, this note gives some hope ^^ If all this is done *plus* we get to actualy mean something when defending an area and have a rather high chance of losing it, then it's gonna be fun all over again.
Too many players don't give a shit about Campaign (and that number is going to increase over time) to keep all the areas defended at all times. It's not that exciting. The NPCs are there for a reason. They do not need a fix so please, stop bitching about it or SE will "fix" it.

Not to mention you can simply warp back and head out to a new area if the NPCs slaughter the beastmen, 95% of the time there will be a new campaign going on.

Hopefully the NPCs will be distracted with sieges so we can actually lose a region or two other than a fucking dungeon. I want my Offensive/Intel campaign ops, thankyouverymuch.
