    C) A terrorist attack occurs, of which McCain would be more suited to handle (hey we didn't have a 2nd one under Bush, what do you think will happen if Obama or Clinton let all the prisoners from Guantanamo go back to Al-Qaeda? they'll just be stronger then)
I agree, McCain would directly benefit from this. Bhutto got killed just before the primaries began and suddenly Mac was back.

    D) The economy gets worse, since Republicans are fiscally more responsible than Democrats
    Maybe 20 years ago.

    E) Michael Bloomberg runs as an independent, which will hurt Democrats since he's closer to liberal
John McCain is already running as an independent so to speak.

    F) McCain will appoint Supreme Court Justices that don't trample over the Constitution, and since there could be another opening in the next 4-8 years, it's of utmost important to see that the balance of the court continues to shift away from the radicalism it had been headed for
    All for that.

So as you can see, there are many reasons to believe that the Democrats are still going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as they so typically do.
    Sup 2006.

Hey Demo, your ignorance is showing.

The low approval rating is for Congress as a collective whole, if you look at individual Congressmen they're fairing better. Congress has always had low approval ratings because of the nature of a democratic society, progress is incredibly slow and high-powered politics (a minority having just enough votes to block the majority) often makes legislation stall or die.

my ignorance is showing by stating congress approval rating is the lowest ever? Facts show ignorance?
I know what congress does, I don't need a lesson. But the approval rating doesn't drop to the lowest point ever for no reason lol.

It's a shame really, I felt Romney really was in touch and up to date with the country's needs as a whole.

I'll continue this post in a bit. Brb though, letting the dogs out.

    Re: Romney gives up..

anyone see his speach where he gave up the race? they showed some clips of it on the news and I couldnt believe half the things he was saying. For example he ranted about how society as a whole will crumble if there is no law enforcing people to become married.

and about the congress low approval rating, you can thank the president for that. Veto Power + not having 2/3 majority = lack of progress. They can't exactly do anything when any bill they present gets shut down.

There's a great deal of base Democrats who are absolutely pissed off at Congress, particularly the House and Senate leadership, for not pushing hard enough.. It's not a matter of whether they could succeed or not, because that's not the point. The point is they've refused to even try. What we thought we were getting with Pelosi and Reid were people who weren't going to bend over to these scumbags anymore, and instead it's the same old crew. The minor successes they've had in the legislative agenda are due to the fact that they won't make a fuck of difference to reverse the damage the Bush adminstration has done to the rule of law and the definition of the roles each branch of government plays in this country.

And the real rub is you won't notice it until you watch the actions of the federal court system over the next 20-30 years. This is where the real damage is being done.

    QFT

If you know how the system works, then you'd know Bush's veto-power is not the reason behind the lack of anything getting done.

What do you mean by true conservatism? If i'm not mistaken, Reagan was neo-conservative. And i can't remember there being any "true" conservatives left at all.
