i swear one time in the dunes exping my blm, i was in a party with this rdm taru jp. i died, he raised me... but he never left, and it looked to me as if all his gear was taken off at the same time. I found out later on through forums (i think it was here), that there was a known hacktool being used to change jobs anywhere. i was like shit, why didn't they send me that.

anyway, wasn't that all fun :D?
Hey remember that hack where you skip servers with a few day old askar korazin and a novia to hang out with a chick on another server? I think it came bundled with the hack that takes off with a bunch of a friend's gil and lushangs... Only downside to that program is when that friend comes back to the game they have to hunt you down to get the novia and nothing else because the rest of it is all gone. Thats an awesome hack.

    That was oddly specific.

There was a rather infamous duo of unnamed females (or were they?) on Fairy back in the day who duped like 6 Kraken Clubs and a ton of other shit by forcing one of their connections to go to S0 (0 packets sent) at the same exact time as they were trading someone an item. The person getting the item would receive it in their trade menu but the game would never actually let the person with S0 give it to them, because they couldn't send packets.

I'm sure it's a bit more complicated than that, but that was the explanation that I remember hearing.

Oh they were named alright, the full story eventually came out on KI.

It wasn't any more complicated than you describe iirc. Open trade, throttle bandwidth, accept, voila item x2.

If I was them I'd have done it with dynamis currency and traded it in, it'd become untracable if it gets turned into a 10,000 byne bill wouldn't it?

And then imagine creating a stack of 99x 10k byne. /swoon.

Actually godly would give the armor an enhanced defense effect. "Jeweler's" is what would make the armor good, because it gives it 4 sockets, in addition to the large amount of life granted from the "of the whale" suffix. Usually socketed with 4x 40enhanced damage / 15increased attack speed jewels. But yeah, those are pretty valuable (even moreso if it's has a PERFECT "of the whale" suffix, giving +100 life.)

Wow, I was (and still am) such a D2 nerd. Ahaha.

Edit: Just realized you said diablo, so you could be talking about the first one. I'm not familiar with that game, so possibly the armor you stated IS really good and you did list the right prefix. (Basically saying this so I don't make myself look completely retarded if you did mean the first diablo.)
It is Diablo 1, anything with the Godly/Awesome prefix in D1 gave like 200-300% bonus to defense. And the defense calculation system in that game worked great to a point till you had all slots full of Godlies, you were almost invulnerable to everything in every difficulty, aside from Hell in Hell mode.

At least in Diablo II, TH (magic find) actually worked to an extent that you could get enough decent stuff if you tried. And in Diablo I, as long as you had the dedication to farm for any of those uniques.. say like Royal Circlet, Gotterdamerung, Stormshield, Doombringer.. etc.. You could get them without too much difficulty.

Anyways back to topic, I remember the old days of MrArgus where you first learned about PH's and their ID#'s. It was so helpful camping lottery stuff that no one bothered to go to - e.x, Cactuar Kung-fu-shoes (name escapes me). And the days Dune Boots NM was considered to be HNM and always taken. It was major crap that players had to use Mr Argus and the call macro function upon pop for Aery.

One bug(hack) still works today though, the teleport-zone one. Just zone out right when you finish casting and you never went to the place.

Trade friend Wing Sword +1 -- He zones.

Trades me back Wing Sword +1.

In that zone, force him to DC...

Logs back on... Yay he has Wing Sword +1 now, too!

Did it with other shit but that was the first and coolest, yes way back in the day when they were like 1-2M.

Early days of gardening, if you went and harvested with only one inv. slot open you could not receive any item that had more than one stack. This helped to force harvest ores, but was quickly patched once SE figured out what was going on.

Didn't monk do something like that with Relic Knuckles?

Also, the HQ cheat was odd since I only know of it secondhand, but also you could somehow zone before the synth finished allowing you to lose the crystal but keep all the items, meaning you skilled up crafts at an absolute profit. And yes, there was a lot of people banned for that one.

How could no one mention the less than 24 hours worms could move around (even if it was just a bug).

Yes there was a trick with the relic knuckles. get 100 tp and WS and you would get 100tp return and could ws forever. used to hear about some great KRT pts that used that.

i thought the trick was that if you were targeting a mob and tried to synth, you'd break the synth 100%, but only lose the crystal, never the items. this used to allow skillups which is exactly as above. it's worth noting that this synth behavior still works (sans the centrally important skillups which are no longer possible) allowing one to determine a craft/subcraft level (moreso the latter, obviously) for an item by trying to synth it well and good below the cap for the item and see if the game will let you do it. when you're within 15 of the cap, it will let you try and "break". if you're further off, it won't even let you have a go at it.

I found out the other day(I don't know if it has ben mentioned or not) that if you happen to get bound while having the movement speed increase from sprint shoes on you can move around. It is very slow movement(almost 4/5 dusk speed) but you can still move.

Although this normaly wouldnt happen since you have to be fighting a target to get bound,(by a spell or JA) and that would make the effect go away. However while running around in campaign(I had not engaged a mob yet) I was hit by a random Bindga and was able to move around due to the sprint shoes effect.

I thought there used to be a bug were if you checked someone while they were synthing it would fail the synth automaticly. I seem to rememeber people getting pissed off when you would check them while they were synthing standing around in jeuno back in like 2004. could be mistaken though.

Also another exploit I remembered that used to exsist, but was fixed many years ago. Back in 2003-04 there used to be a bug with KB that would cause it to drop a D.Ring 100% of the time. If everyone in the allience was wearing a Pixie Earring when KB was killed it would drop a D.Ring since the Pixie Earring would be unlottable. Unfortunately they fixed this bug before any NA's, on my server Siren, were even doing kings. So only the JP's were able to take advange of it. One JP LS on my server called Priceless took advantage of this exploit and got their entire LS D.Rings this way.

I don't think it was a trick, it was the delay on the knuckles that caused all the TP.

It.. wasn't even an exploit per se. Back then, multiple hit WS TP return worked differently. Instead of (main hand)+(1*number of remaining hits), it was just (main hand)*hits. Hello 40tp return pentas instead of the 12 you get now. With relic knuckles and asuran, you'd get 122tp return (15.3*8) if you landed all hits, so you could endlessly spam asuran. People were soloing VT skeles. Exploit/"Cheating"? No. Broken? Yeah.

Was this from a pieste? I noticed this on a pieste's bind, and not everyone was using sprint shoes and still were able to walk.
