Best news of the day. I missed Dream Theater's last tour with Into Eternity and Redemption(two other bands I really like) because they decided to not tour the Southeast; glad to see them and Opeth coming to Orlando, really excited.

fucking ugh. This is truly going to be the summer of suck. Any band that was worth going to is not coming to Toronto but instead touring Europe or the closest they get is Detroit/NYC. And im not prepared to make that 4 hour drive + 2 hour sit at the boarder. I am very disapointed.

Make sure you arrive early and check out Three - I saw them live when they were opening for Porcupine Tree and they were excellent.

So I can't find tickets for this shit ANYWHERE, does anyone have any? I don't even know if the California ones went on sale yet because I can't seem to find them anywhere, the Gibson Ampitheater where they're supposed to be playing doesn't even have them listed on their calendar. wtf?

    http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/744581

Those are currently the only venues listing tickets for sale. I'm gonna be on this every day, so I'll update this post if anything changes (more locations, ticket sales, etc).

    From the Opeth website:

Opeth will do six PN offdate headlining gigs in May. These are:
    4th - Portland, OR - Roseland Theater
    8th - Spokane, WA - Big Easy
    15th - Millvale, PA - Mr. Small´« Theatre
    23rd - Montreal, OC - Le Medley
    24th - Toronto, ON - Sound Academy
29th - N. Myrtle Beach, SC - House of Blues SC
Looks like a decent band is coming to Toronto after all sephir

    Re: Progressive Nation 2008

Sorry for necrobump but its valid.

So I drove my phoenix to LA for this show yesterday and I just got back, I'm tired as fuck but I'll just write up some shit off the top of my head:

First off, it was fucking amazing. Every band there was fucking great and they played a killer set.
Three started off and I've never heard of them before but they were really good live, they had some cool stuff and some good sounding stuff, especially the lead singer/guitar player
BTBAM was next, Ive heard of them ebfore and their live performances are great, this one was no different.
Opeth came on next and omg they were so good, thy only played one song from watershed and that was hex omega. They played fucking wreath and some other oldies, they were the best set.
Dream theater was on last ofc, they were just that, dream theater, they played for like 2 hours which was just too long, I wanted to go but my friends wanted to wait the entire time.

If they're coming through and you are considering going I would go even for the opening bands, they were just fucking great. I'm off to crach now because I'm fucking tired @_@

    Re: Progressive Nation 2008

So I went and checked out the gig in Minneapolis.

Three was absolutely awesome, by resounding consensus "the best live performance of the night" by myself and my friends. Seriously make it a point to show up early and check them out.

Between The Buried And Me was above average, they had a short set it seemed... I don't know what it is, I love Colors, but I'm just not a massive fan of them live.

Opeth was awesome as usual, although they had kind of a funky setlist with songs like Wreath and In My Time of Need. They did open with Master's Apprentice and closed with Drapery Falls, both great songs.

    Setlist was:

    Master's Apprentice
    Baying of the Hounds
    In My Time of Need
    Wreath
    Heir Apparent
    Drapery Falls

I think I'm missing a song... maybe not.

I left early because I can't stand this "new" Dream Theater and I think James LaBrie is one of the worst rock vocalists of all time. But what I have heard from multiple people was minus a solo here and there, it was a big snorefest. So unless you're a die-hard DT fan, or never seen them before (I have), you might want to skip out.
