Laptop Got the hiv

Basically my roommate's laptop is now nothing more than an LED paperweight, when he boots it up it's slow, then it doesn't show the Start menu taskbar thing at the bottom of the screen and nothing seems to really work in terms of browsing/doing anything.

He also had his account on WoW hacked from (i'm pretty sure) one of those iframe 1px things from some site;

is there anyway to fix this since we can't find another XP install disk to reformat?

Download Super-Anti-Spyware and AVG virus scanner, try to boot up in safe mode and scan there. Remove anything it finds. As soon as you can get it online, run windows update, turn on the firewall, run scans again.

buy a xp OEM edition or torrent the xp version..

even better, if you are a college student, go to the MSDN Student Alliance and pick up a free n legal(!) copy of XP or whatever you want to run.
