    Free Paritioning Software...

I'm a little pissed off right now. A while back I bought Partition Magic 8.0 because it was required for a few of my classes. I've stopped using it in school and now I want to free up some space to dual boot windows vista and linux. Well first I try the built in partitioner and for no fucking reason it says I can only free up 10 gigs out of the 175 gig free space I have! So I'm like fuck this I install partition magic 8. OH HU FUCKING RAY ITS NOT SUPPORTED! I EVEN TRY TO SWITCH IT TO COMPATIBILITY MODE XP SP2 AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!

TL;DR What is a good FREE partitioning program?

Resizing a Vista partition after you have already loaded the OS is a hectic process, trust me. For some reason Vista really does not like having it's C: drive resized or messed with in any way. I found this guide on the gparted forum on how to do it on a Vista HDD step by step, follow the directions and see if it works for you: http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=431

Though from experience the best practice is to set up your partitions before loading OSs/dual-booting/whatever, especially where Vista is concerned. My advice to you if the above guide fails you is to make an image of your drive, wipe the hard drive completely and start over. And honestly unless you -need- to dual boot Vista and Linux, why even bother with this? Dual booting can be/is a major pain in the ass. You're much better off using a shitty laptop for playing around in Linux.
