Well, from the videos, it definitely seems that using any two hour in response to AV has no immediate effect on AV. You'd still need to cope with at least one of each 2 hour.

Yeah but I'm just saying, if the trick is his 2Hs resets yours (although as Ryko said it's hard to imagine nobody would have noticed already, but I can't think of what else they would be illustrating with this video), his 2Hs become more or less trivial. Chainspell and Manafont you'll need quick responses to deal with, and Soul Voice will probably be annoying, but the rest would be no issue whatsoever with PLD tanks.

Though the rest of the visible gear is oddly throwback stuff.

So, in the vid we see Meikyo, Call Wyvern, Astral Flow, Soul Voice, Chainspell, Hundred Fists, correct?

Unfortunately no sign of Manafont, Benediction, or Mijin.

Optimist: 2hring during the ones we see in the video prevents the ones we don't want to see.
Pessimist: SE wiped during the runs where AV used Mana/Bene/Mijin and didn't use those for the video.

Well, I said it earlier although I'm not sure if you read it. I don't think the fact that they're using 2 hours multiple times has anything to do with AV. I think they're just cheating to emphasize something in the video as well as make actually creating the video much simpler and faster. It's too bad they didn't release this a week ago, my LS had 11 JoL sets hoarded up. We still have 7 left though. Saturday will be an interesting day.

I don't know what else they could be showing with regard to 2Hs. If you look at Atreides's timeline on the previous page, using certain 2Hs didn't prevent their subsequent use. Also, as has been pointed out several times, use of player 2H immediately upon his use of a 2H didn't nerf the effect of his 2H at least in the cases of Chainspell, Soul Voice, Hundred Fists, and Meikyo Suishi.

Funny thing is after using Chainspell and Meikyo it was able to cast several spells in a row, and if you look at the Meikyo video it uses medusa javelin a 2nd time just as the screen is fading to black. However, it never seems to get AF off, at least not before the screen cuts away til another timeframe.

I think it makes perfect sense. av used chainspell, got timers reset, got chainspell dispelled, was still able to cast aero5 again.


used sam 2hr> used ws and instantly had tp again > got 2hr cleared > used his tp as it would normally. you don't see a 3rd ws.

I think It is best that we view this as segments of a much much larger battle. At the fanfest they told us a full video of the battle would take far too long. They instead would give us a video showing hints. I think it would be a misguided attempt on our parts to view this as one whole battle in its entirety, and to bitch and moan that things don't make sense. Instead lets focus on what few facts they gave us. The hints that they said they would give. Such as what spells on what day, and the fact they 2hr'd after AV 2hr'd. We should probably assume this battle will still take hours to fight. Chances our most people who use their 2hrs will get an opportunity to use them again throughout the course of the fight. It was already told to us that defeating the JoL spawns and casting elemental spells based on day will help with regen. So that's hardly new. I think the only real new hint they gave us was the use of the 2hrs. The question is, are they spamming hoping to match certain 2hrs? or does any 2hr help? It also appears that DRG still use call wyvern instead of their new 2hr on AV.

On an extra note to those advocating cor for 2hr reset. When AV was added, Cor wasn't in the game. So I hardly think it is a necessity to win.

So yeah, that is a good observation, but I think the real thing to look at is the attack speed during Hundred Fists, did it stop during the 2hr spam?

Perhaps you DO need the same 2hr to nerf AV's 2hr, I don't recall him slowing down during the 2hring after HF, and it should have been at least noticeable if he did... perhaps with no monks there to HF too, you can't stop that one?

Nope, but 50 man linkshells weren't that uncommon then. Now they are, but COR could potentially make this still doable if you need fresh 2 hours frequently.

Would it make you feel better if every pld was tanking in haut/aegis? Every melee with a relic weapon? Then everyone would be QQing saying SE cheated and has the best of every gear in the game. They are obviously telling us that it can be done even if you dont have the best of everything.

Only thing I can think of is that there's a chance of a 2hr "dispeling" AV's 2hr when you use it when in main alliance/on hate list.

That and the elemental day nuking thing reducing regen, but we all knew that already.
