That is an interesting idea.

AV 2hrs, and you see at least on person fire off the same 2hr, and then multiple people using Bene/Mana/SV/Meikyo/AF and the like, would be interesting if that prevented/reduced the possibility of him using those abilities.

Assuming it's multiple fights, it could be indicating that you need only do that once.

Sacrificing your 2hrs to prevent AV from using his own would be a virtuous act I guess.

That+Keeping the Aerns (which, naturally, are not visible in the videos after being mentioned, so worth testing at least) around him dead seems pretty plausible.

I'm a believer of the "multiple fights spliced together to put emphasis on a single-moment action" belief, but the more I watch and read into it.

The more I feel SE just wanted to show that when he starts using his 2hours, it's probably in your best interest to bust out all yours too simply because if you don't you're gonna wind up on the floor anyways. take it down as fast and hard as possible.

But, i'm obviously not that optimistic.

Well, I mentioned this back on page 13, but it could be that the big 'ninja AV fix' was just adding something either with certain 2hr relationship or just adding in the Aerns. The "wyvern locking" could have seriously been completely legitimately this same strategy, with BLMs using Manafont to kill a particular set after AV used Call Wyvern, but we were never realizing what it was locking him up. We thought it was something with the Wyverns, and it didn't make sense as to reasons why it would take such varying numbers of summons, etc.

I'm currently leaning towards the probably only 1 2hr needing used after he uses it, and the Devs either overdid it to like HERE IS YOUR BIG FUCKING CLUE or to confuse us and make us overspeculate like this in some manner. If just one person used a 2hr when AV 2hr'd, it would have been harder to pick up right away. "Oh, ok, someone 2hred.." But obviously we'll need some testing; I'm sure the first few people to try will be spamming 2hrs they can afford at the time, and then people will move to testing just one or two people 2hring each time, etc, to see which is the case.

I know it's a bit of a stretch, but I feel like when he's talking about "show me... by what principles art thou driven", that might be related to the use of 2 hours. They're (supposed to be, at least) defining abilities of the job, right? When you use your 2 hour, you're showing AV the principle that drives you.

I've heard people express confusion at "I have been freed by the chains...", but if you have to use your 2 hour to be able to lock his and defeat him, you sort of are freeing him by using the chains that bind him.

Then again, maybe I'm reading into it too much.

People already made that corrolation a few pages back, its pretty obvious hes talking about the 2hours - its just no one looked into it until now. Now its just a matter of how exactly those 2hours weaken him in relation to the long-known regen nerf.

Im pretty sure that has been mentioned atleast 5 times in this thread already.
The reason noone cares for that random thought is that it is A). nothing is confirmed B). if it is confirmed the guessing time is over C). noone cares for what NPC have to say

Ok, perhaps this is silly...but, here goes my speculation.

I have limited experience playing with AV, we never get it to pop, but from what I have read, and seen, he seems to 2hour in groups, pairs, or 3's. I will come back to that in a moment. But, from my experience in this game, Hundred Fists is one of the most deadly 2 hours a mob can have. So, if the current theory is match his 2hour, and he can't hour, why no mnk in the alliance, or mijin gakure also being deadly, so why no nin?

I often see him to mighty strikes, then hundred fists. Or he does chainspell, then manafont to be able to spam meteor. So, you need to avoid the really bad 2hours. Perhaps..certain 2hour's trigger other 2hours. Like, maybe he does Soul Voice --> Benediction, or does chainspell --> manafont, or Call Wyvern(mob drg 2hour)--> mijin gakure. So, maybe the trick isn't to match ALL his 2hours, just certain ones, which can then stop the trigger which will activate the devastating 2hours.

I mean, honestly, if SE was just trying to show us, that to stop his 2hour, you need to match it..where the hell was the MNK, and the NIN. I realize, the first one they showed, they had about 10 different 2hours, but the second time, only 5 or 7 went off or something.

I guess, if this theory holds, the tricky part will be figuring out which 2hours are "groups or pairs" then you only need to match the first one. It also appears from my experience, the first 2hour he does in his "group" is never THAT bad, he always does chainspell before manafont, or might strikes before hundred fists...from what I have seen. I also believe I remember some LS's saying they could stop certain 2hours, but not all of them. What if the trigger for Benediction is having a THF perfect dodge, perhaps some silly thf did it once by accident, and it stopped Bene, no one would think to try that again right?

EDIT: On the "no one cares what NPCs have to say", maybe that's why SE seemed so confused as to why people kept having trouble. They've given roundabout clues like this before, haven't they? As far as they were concerned, maybe they had told us the secret, and we just weren't paying attention/thinking it through enough.

(Before inevitable flaming, I'm saying that's what they might have thought. If that is what they thought, I think it was pretty stupid of them, but that's neither here nor there.)

Forgive me if this was mentioned in this thread but has anyone ever tried previously fighting AV when ALL of the alliance member's 2 hours were down? I like the prospect that someone mentioned that sacrificing the 2 hrs would be absolute virtue and it makes sense that if all blms Manafont was down, he could not use it XD

Posted the same basic theory before the flurry of posting.

Chainspell generally leads to Manafont, and then Meteor and everyone crying and bleeding from their anuses and whatnot.

So, with that in mind.

Theory 1: AV readies Chainspell (interesting that he "readies" as was said), someone pops Chainspell. He is "stunned" from using 2hrs for a while, preventing Manafont.

Theory 2: AV readies Chainspell, someone pops Chainspell and someone else uses the ability you want to prevent, Manafont. Chainspell opens him to being locked, Manafont seals that particular 2hr, preventing meteor rape.

Theory 3: AV readies Chainspell, it doesn't matter who pops what besides Manafont, because CS is active, but using Manafont will prevent him from using it.

Theory 4: AV readies Chainspell, using Chainspell stops his 2hr effect, and/which opens him to being locked on other 2hrs, explaining the Manafont/Benediction/Meikyo Shisui spam.

This video brings back memories of the LS that accidentally locked it and held it overnight and when they lost claim he swapped into the bracelets and went back into OMFG rape me mode. It may be that you have to lock him multiple times through out the fight. IDK just throwing it out there.

Only Theory 3 would make sense, the two hour ability that Absolute Virtue uses is not used by players till near the end or at the end. Of course, it could incorrect, too.

I think that SE has actually been on a roll lately (aside from the whole account hacking mess). I'm glad I don't see people QQing about the video, whining that SE hasn't given them the whole answer when all they said for a while was that they were only giving hints. If this was Blizzard, they would have given you the exact setups, their builds, the spells used, the time they engaged, the time the mob died, and the times they let their dogs out to piss.
