I think Square was being too clever for its own good in making this boss. At this rate, they'll probably have to show a video handholding us through the entire fight, as we obviously cannot understand their 'genius'.

Theres only really three possibly ways, we've tried two of the three. We're gonna try the last way and let you guys know what happens.

So after we run out of ideas by the end of the weekend, where do we gather for the angry mob?
The new thread will end up looking like this too. It's best to wait until something is actually done before making a new thread.Yes please.

i bet they are secretly happy the secret to the 'puzzle' wasn't broken. You wouldn't want the Mega Boss of the endgame area of your expansion reduced to farm status. I bet the guy (team?) who made Kirin has an opinion of zerging it down in under a minute.Originally Posted by Castoth
If you watch the video, the first time they showed the 2 hours firing, it was Thundersday. The second time it was Darksday (which is 2 game days after Thundersday) at aprox. the same game time as they previously used. Correct me if I'm wrong, but thats over a 2 hour span.Originally Posted by shirak

I was browsing through Wikipedia and looking into the meanings of the 7 Virtues. From what i can read 4 are from the "Cardinal Virtues". Justice (Depicted holding a Sword), Fortitude(With a broken column) Temperance(Mixing wine and water in two jugs) and Truth(Holding a Mirror and being attack by a serpent)
Truth stuck out for me. The depiction of truth seems to be fighting the beast with the reflection of itself. This could help shed light on the 2hour situation, it could indeed be as simple as fighting fire with fire, though it seemed to be tested and failing, theres something were missing indefinitly, as someone stated above, just because we got another hint doesnt mean hes going to be easier. And as SE Stated earlier, Avoiding Comet/Meteor is almost impossible.
The other 3. Derive from the "Three Theological Virtues", Faith Hope, and Love. (Love is also sometimes shown as "Charity").
"And now abideth faith, hope, and love, even these three: but the chiefest of these is love". (Geneva Bible, 1560).
This seems to Emphisize love as the greatest (Probably why Jailor of Love is the final one of them and the most powerful)
This seems like useless information, and it probably/has been investigated before.
*We all know Jailor Weapons dont have an effect.
*We all know 2hours play a part in locking AV. Just dont know any co-relation. "Truth" might shed light on this?
*Absolute Virtue in the video was straight tanked facing the wall with only very few melee in close range, i read that one of the virtues is the practice of "Forgiving Sinners" and "Setting a pace for yourself". Also earlier it was hinted that we were trying to kill AV to quickly, which coincidently pertained to one of the Virtues, Patience.
*It seemed like Baraero is highly suggested, for obvious reason, even though as the picture above showed, no amount of Bar-aero is going to keep you from eating meteor for 2k+ DMG.
Heres something to try when you pop AV.
Keep Melee's to a Minimum, It may have an important role in this, notice on the video there were about only 5~6 Actual Melee in range fighting AV (Most were PLDs and RDMs, obviously Tanks).
Do what they did in the video with the Wynavs, have a RDM sub THF, or THF sub RDM, Diaga, and run with them (Flee), we cant forget this part, kiting the Wynavs away isnt shown directly, but may be a good idea~
My biggest suggestion for my theory is keep Melee's to a Minimum, Nuke accordingly to the day as we all know to do, but try smaller nukes at first, in moderation, like teir I/II/II at first, and when you notice the regen depleting start with the TeirIV, the amount of damage being dealt to him over time may trigger 2hours, its a possibility.
Other then this, i really hope you guys finally take this guy down, let me know if you attempt the Minimal Damage at the start theory, (taking it slow) and his reactions two hour wise.
I Know im 15 Pages late for posting "Theories" and maybe in the wrong thread, But at this point we should try every little thing. I myself have had ZERO Experiance with AV, Im just hoping to help you guys figure it out!
Side Note: Did you guys ever see him "Ready" A 2hour? maybe he only does this under special conditions? (also if you noticed it said "Readied Chainspell!" when the Dust animation went off, not when it said "Used" in the video), did you guys experiance the "Ready 2hour" Chat log?
(At the very least this is something to read while you wait to F5 Again ^^)
For those of you who think there is no hope to be found in the SE video, this one depicts AV's behaviour backstage after he depops from destroying an alliance, maybe it holds a hint.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9F931-k2 ... re=related
Have people really tested AV with having everyone in JoL alliance burn 2hours before he pops? Someone said people have popped him with no 2hours up but I don't ever remember reading anything about it. I know you don't like this theory Sirrobin but I think it has some merit.
Theory is same as Similli's, that if people around him have 2hours up, no matter what job, he can use a 2 hour (any). The video could have been super sneaky, and what they were actually trying to show us was that when AV used 2hours, all those people had 2 hours available to them. They showed it by spamming them all right after AV, from a few different angles - backline and frontline jobs (in the alliance). I know the SE guy said 2hours are related to common mobs "like aern" or something. I think maybe he was just hinting at us, without giving it away directly. Hey maybe what he meant was "something like an aern." It's far fetched but they're humanoid and have different jobs, like us.
It could explain how people have locked 2hours in the past after a long period of time. People on AV's hate list eventually just burned their 2hours up. Maybe when we managed to win that one time, the drks were the last ones with their 2hours up, and once we went full out zerg, there was no 2hours left to use. This could be why we thought taking him to a certain % locked him. This is a rare scenerio, which could explain why it just never happened all that often. I still think AV was glitched in some way, and that's why he lost his TP moves too (I think this happened). They did say they fixed monster actions in sea right? Don't remember if directly said AV.
It would be easy to test, even after testing out other stuff first and wiping. After he's lost all aggro just have solo people claim, either with or without 2hours up. I'm pretty sure all the times we ran him from spawn to updraft with lvl 1 jobs he'd use 2hr on claim right away or just melee.
We've already seen one test post video, and nothing was really noticed after spamming like they did in the video. So I don't think this is too far fetched.

After watching the video several times this actually looks like it might hold some merit. People are looking way too much into what jobs used 2hr's and not really when they used their 2hrs.Originally Posted by Riios

For those of you concerned about AV "ready"-ing this 2HRs, the Al'Taieu .DAT contains text entries for each FFXI + RoZ job Two Hour. By this I mean, there are a series of dialog entries that simply say:
Absolute Virtue readies Mighty Strikes.
Absolute Virtue readies Hundred Fists.
Absolute Virtue readies Benediction.
Absolute Virtue readies Manafont.
...
Et al.
From what we can see in the video, there are certain consistencies:
- 7 or more Two Hours are being used each time Absolute Virtue uses one.
- Each time Absolute Virtue uses a Two Hour ability, there is at least one person who responds to it by using the same Two Hour (in most cases, if not all, multiple uses of the same Two Hour).
AV eventually dies in its Red Bracelet form. Before SE "fixed" AV, the Red Bracelets meant death to us, and since they did fix it, the Red Bracelets have never agian reappeared, but they are obviously significant. Perhaps the "correct" method of locking AV's ability use is to force it into Red Bracelet mode? So how do we do this?
Something that'll blow our minds...? Maybe the "secret" is that it's basically a lottery of sorts.
AV cycles through Two Hours until it "Readies" one of them. Hitting the correct Two Hour in response prevents AV from ushering in an apocalypse on your EXP bar.
Add it to the list of things to try I guess.![]()
I think my biggest piss off about this whole BS video is that they edited it to shit. I'm pretty sure most people would prefer to see a un-edited version showing the chat/time/etc. legibly. This is basically a big wut?
I can no longer find the post that said that 9 people used their 2hr the first time, etc etc, but watching it again, i see at least 16 people use their 2hrs then. Doubt that holds any significance, but i'm assuming everyone who is smashing F5 need something to read for a few seconds.
