Re: The long awaited AV video (seriously read the whole thread)

Yeah its early and I'm still pretty frustrated so I apologize for what was posted above, however, to believe that using abilities some how prevents you from disabling certain 2hours is a foolish concept.

I'm still fairly certain of what I posted 2 pages back or wherever it was that if you match his 2hour used on pull, and spam the ones you wish to disable, it'll work. I hope that someone can test this before we pop our JoL today, if not, if we get AV I'll let you know how that theory goes.

I'm actually considering the theory that offensive attacks might make him retaliate in kind. If you notice, even in the SE video, he pops a two-hour when the DRK uses Catastrophe at the very end. It could be that up to that point, they hadn't used any melee WSes, and because it was at 1-2%, they wanted to finish it off.

That'd be a daring move with only 1-2% left lol, unless the bracelets prevent him from doing a, say, 150k HP Benediction. I know I'd be sad.

I guess thats viable, but it wouldn't explain why he continued to 2hour after just nukes were going off.

It could be that he has a reactionary mode (normal) and an aggressive mode (bracelets) where he attacks stronger and faster but doesnt trigger shit in response to other player abilities.

Absolute Virtue isn't meant to be beaten. Its the mob that has a Ninurta's Sash, Mars' Ring, that everyone is like :Q........ over, and SE just laughs, rofls and says "You can't always have what you want", then goes off to make more shitdroprate events with NQ-2 NM drops. AV Exp loss is your reward for giving Black Mages MAB+7.

    ITS TRUE WOMG

Stated earlier, but what with the game advancing further and further along, the shit isn't as broken powerful as it used to be with exception of like the minerva's ring. The rest is nice, better options than what exists for sure but not as drastically as they used to be. By the time AV starts getting regularly killed shells might just be better off selling the shit and funding relics.

    Um.

I had a 6 hr blackout last night due to our super awesome snow/rain/freezing rainstorm and just now skimmed through pages 20-35 or so... etc.

I watched all the videos again. I didn't see this being said at all, most people still seem to be of 'many hours' or 'multiple fights' opinion.

These clips and videos are all just ONE Absolute Virtue fight. Not multiple, and not over 6-12 hrs time.

    This is the order:

Whatever, JoL Windsday to Iceday. Defeated on Iceday. AV pops on Iceday.

    1. English video, clip IV is chronologically FIRST. Iceday 12x (AV Call Wyvern)
    2. German video, clip III and Japanese video, clip II is next. Iceday 14x (AV Soul Voice (Seelenstimme))
    3. French video, clip III. Iceday 16:1x (AV Hundred Fists (Cent poings))
    3. German video, clip IV and Japanese video, clip IV. Iceday 16:4x (AV Meikyo Shisui)
    4. All videos, clip I. Iceday 23x --> Lightningsday 00x (Thunder casts, PLD using Invincible, no AV response.)
I think the lower Thunder casts are just for lower damage/TP, honestly, while working to break Regen.
    5. English video, clip III and French video, clip IV. Lightningsday 5x. (AV Chainspell (Chaîne de sorts)).
    6. English video, clip II. Lightningsday 06x. (PLD Invincible, then AV Soul Voice - most likely just slight chat log lag.)
    7. French and German videos, clip II. Lightningsday 08x-09x (AV Astral Flow (Flux astral/Astralstrom))
    8. Japanese video, clip III. Lightningsday 13x - (AV Astral Flow)
    8. End clips. All from different angles. German and English on one side (German more to the right I believe), French on other side. Japanese end clips look to be the same as English. Same Gekko kill, Homam DRG in same place in each video, DRK and PLDs near each other, etc.

I did a search and didn't find the links for the JP video... did we have that somewhere? >.>

I *thought* I saw a pattern watching the English clips (same as rabidmuskrat posted above as I was typing this up and making sure I had things accurate), and then thought maybe the reason the German one clipped away so quickly after 2hr zoom-ins was because things weren't done quite right, but it doesn't carry through all videos.

In the English video, the last 2hr to go off after AV's was the same as AV's (Soul Voice goes off, a bunch of everything goes off, and after like, 2 seconds, one last Soul Voice; then Chainspell, a handful of 2hrs go off, and then Chikiki's Chainspell)... but it's not the same in German and French. At first I thought since the 2 clips in the German video were the earliest, maybe they had just not gotten the timing/rhythm of it, but then there's the clip on Lightningsday. So I can't say it means anything.

Personally... I don't know if they had something else resetting their 2hrs on purpose to make this HUGE FUCKING POINT or if something else did it. I can't even say it's a match up from mage to mage/melee to melee because as a BRD uses Soul Voice on the German video as it fades out after Meikyo Shisui; and after Astral Flow in the FR/DE video, the last used is Blood Weapon (at first it looked like it was consistent with my theory from the EN videos, but then Chainspell and Blood Weapon get busted out :/).

There certainly seems to be some sort of response mechanism, however...

In any case, it's pretty clear, this is all one fight.

Yes, thank you for the video, as it was the most relevant thing that was posted since, well, my video. Really people, you say you have tried everything and yet, you fail to try frapping any of it. I've yet to see the video where the only melees are the 4 tanks and a couple high dmg DD's with melee attacks only, that have mages cut the fireworks on AV after its first 2-hour, and only resume nuking when it's about to die in order to finish him quickly. Mostly I haven't seen it because the idea seems retarded at heart. Additionally I haven't seen it because it hasn't been tried. But for all intents and purposes that's what happens in the Square-Enix video. Not a single offensive nuke occurs from the 2:40 cutaway to the last section, save the diaga used to claim the wynavs. I'm not saying that it hasn't been said here before, I am saying it has not been tried despite the people who claim it has, because there's no video of it.
So swallow your pride, gather up a nice big group of tanks, some DD mages, a few healers, and a few stray melee, and when AV pops use the tanks - even the RDM/NINs with their earth staves - to make damned sure AV stays grounded in one spot, directly on the tanks. Move the primary healer on top of the tanks to make sure they don't steal hate and move it over other squishies. Use initial elemental nuking to work off the rest of AV's regen only, then resolve your pride to keeping Wynavs and Aern's dead. The first 2-hour will be your cue to cease nukes and pop your 2-hour for good luck. Use the next 8 hours of your Saturday to slowly whittle AV's health down to nothing using the slow-as-fuck nothing-but-melee method. If you see the slightest hint of Manafont, pop Fealty and don't panic. Use your shadows and bounce hate to other tanks when one starts taking damage. If you do this, people will stop dying; and without any form of regen it won't matter that it takes 8 hours to kill AV because you will make continuous progress even at snail speed.
And before anyone states that this has been tried, they're required to post a video of it. (oh, and to read all 40 pages of this thread too - every post, no skimming through it either. You know, for good measure. I did it, you can too.) You know the old adage "Pics or it didn't happen." Well, it applies.

    Edit - 41 pages now ^^

Please see my post above. This was not an 8 hr fight. It was like, 2 hrs tops for the AV fight only. Which means that there are a number of AV and player 2hrs that went off before they even did the ice/thunder nuking that is the first clip on the EN/DE/FR videos.

Re: The long awaited AV video (seriously read the whole thread)

Interesting thought. Perhaps AV is "reactive", and we're supposed to mirror him? The hail of (seemingly random) 2-hours to go with AV's trigger of one has to be a clue (I know, we've gone over that). Perhaps the lack of large amounts of WS spam is as well.

Slow elemental burndown to reduce regen, 2 hrs ??? with AV's 2 hrs to ???, no WS zerging until the final few % of AV?

Or perhaps any elemental type of damage that isn't matching the day ends up goading AV...which would mean WS spam = holy crap 2hr death blarg.

Re: The long awaited AV video (seriously read the whole thread)

I just went back and counted the damage that Seksivega took on that CS. Notice this is only from when all of the other tanks died, while he was tanking Solo.

    Aeroga IV 703
    Tornado II 777
    Aeroga IV 751
    Aeroga IV 939
    Aero V 781
    Aeroga IV 939
Aeroga IV 939 (like back to back)
    Aeroga IV 925
Tornado II for 0 damage. (not sure why, assuming JA)
    Tornado II 374
Tornado II in there that hits a shadow I believe
    Aero V 767

This isn't including melee damage. IMO the best thing when he CSes is to isolate one tank (preferably one with Aegis and w/e gear this guy had) and keep the other tanks away. Aeroga IV for 900+ is healable. On 3 tanks it isnt. Looking at this video CS doesn't really look at that bad, and appears that it even if unavoidable, it's manageable as long as you keep the Aeroga victims to a minimum.

The weaponskill spam wasn't too bad as you can see in the video. We were able to keep keep the one pld cured pretty well. I'm not sure that idea is viable. I do support the mirroring AV's action part however, at least based off of how the EN video is edited. The JP video shows that there is a decent delay between some of the 2 hours used, and we've already verified that plain old spam does nothing without matching his 2hour.
