he manafont+comet & meteor'd seemingly without provocation, so idk what's up with that, he did it with nothing provocative surrounding it (WS, wrong element magic, JA). he just did it on his own

I don't know what triggered manafont.

But it was most likely Bio II that caused mighty strike.

Yeah. Basically all we learned is that Bio/other spells not correlating to the day (probably damaging spells mostly, Flash seemed to be ok) are a no-no. Which we already knew. Silly jp's.

I wouldnt call thinking of ways to deal with Wynavs other than GA to death as derailing, they are an integeral part of AV to begin with.

I wouldnt call thinking of ways to deal with Wynavs other than GA to death as derailing, they are an integeral part of AV to begin with.

Going off of the video, it may seem ridiculous but I really do think you need a black mage to manafont every time a two hour goes off to prevent him from using it as his next two hour =/ I think these theories really need to be tried together.

Also doesn't sound like they went with 2hr usage at all. I don't think the 2hr theory is "nonsense," at all, unlike what someone else posted above. I'm not saying it's the only thing to fighting this guy either, but I firmly believe at this time the only JAs you're "allowed" to use are 2hrs, and that you should.. be using them.

The readies vs. uses thing is interesting too... I remember having noticed that in some of the dev vids, thinking that perhaps the PLD that went "before" Soul Voice or whichever 2 hr it is in that shot had seen a "readies" and fired early, but it wasn't there as I recall, so it was probably just the chat log lag. But there is definitely a "readies" in one of the videos, be it SE clips or Demo's vid, I'm just kinda out of it atm and also don't have access to watching them atm to pinpoint.

@Zoot: No, I had said that exact thing and had said so after many other people mentioned the 2hr business; but people seem to be really focused on the JA thing atm and are writing off the 2h thing as "nonsense," when it is a variable you need to control. I think despite JA non-usage 2hrs STILL will be used (see: SE vids), so you have to have a plan for them. You can't just say 'well that JA theory is shit, this sucks' and say we fucked up when people weren't trying to control both theory variables.

Fucking hell, so we're still the only ones who have gotten anywhere with this. Come I beg of you guys, if you got a shell that does sea, try to get something scheduled soon to rule out or verify some of these ideas. Preferable a shell that has english speakers.

Well it's been tested to an extent, but we haven't had anyone we can communicate with fight AV for what..36 hours now? The "mana tap" 2hr theory hasn't really been tested much, which is basically the same as saying it has to be Manafont, or some variation.

The trouble here is we have too many variables, too many potential theories to test out all at once. We need to just stick to one or two at a time. Personally I'd say do a run where you use no JA/WS, don't use any damaging spells of the wrong element, and just stick with that for a while. Don't worry about the 2hr crap, save that for after a wipe after you've seen his behavior. Then get back up and try using JA's and see if he acts differently. Safe to assume WS is a bad idea at this point, I wouldn't even mess with that. Try burning corresponding 2hr's after that.

I do think burning 2hr's is going to play a role, that's fairly obvious from the SE vid unless they're just cruel bastards and threw that in as a red herring. But again, it's a controlled variable right now, if we just blow whatever 2hr's we want whenever AV 2hr's, we have no idea what his reaction is going to be. Once we figure out exactly what effect the JA/WS thing has, then we can start messing with that.

My confidence in an LS actually controlling all these variables and keeping their ducks in a row is about nil, though.

In the Dev's video, AV readies Chainspell (After supposedly being triggered by the RDMs Additional Effect on her staff), and AV 'readies' Perfect Dodge in Demo's video after someone casting Dia.
All of the other 2-hours were used instantly.

I don't think it's safe to assume that our actions necessarily provoke an -immediate- reaction from AV. If we do something wrong at some point in the fight, he might get a 2hr "unlocked" for example. It's certainly possible that he could use it right away, but maybe not necessarily always the case.

The only way to disprove the reactionary theory is not use ANY JA or WS, period. Zero, zip, nada. Not even 2 hours, hence my earlier post. See what he does THEN, and if he still goes lolmeteor on us then...well back to the drawing board.
