Awesome. Though I have to ask, why did someone start using Bio to begin with? >_> Dia/Bio always wore off Absolute Virtue instantaneously, or so I remember anyhow

(This is of course, not directed to the poster above me since he said that LS was 'testing' it, but to the LS from last night who used it)

The deal with Dia and Bio isn't that it wears off immediately, but that it wears off immediately when hate-free, unlike other mobs that you can zombie and prevent the 10% HP hate-free regen with DoTs. Otherwise I'm pretty sure it sticks for the full duration.

Pretty sure bio used to stick on AV in the past, I remember a certain DRK who had just gotten his dark magic skill gear being all excited that most Dark based enfeebles stuck on him.

@Heie, I noticed that too. I am pretty sure she was the dust cloud caller. I watched closely to see if it was that Pomlongname black mage, but it wasn't.

I keep hearing people saying, Shield Bash and see if it Perfect Dodges or whatever. I don't know why people think each action will result in the same action, that would make for a very boring fight after its figured out. However, here:

Chainspell is not a retaliation 2hr.

He uses it naturally.

Things that he "readies" as far as I can tell, are not retaliation 2hrs.

This includes perfect dodge, chainspell, soul voice, and call wyvern.

Possibly more.

Manafont, benediction, mighty strikes, and others I haven't seen yet, have no "readies" time, and are only used in retaliation.

The purpose of asking is to determine whether he does just use one specific 2hour / one of a selection / a random 2 hour. your picture indicates that there is more than one but it does not prove that it can be any

We've seen Chainspell, Perfect Dodge, Soul Voice and Call Wyvern being fired off without the 'readies' comment, but only Chainspell and Perfect dodge being readied, once.

I think this serves more towards the opacus theory than anything, kinda screams 'leave AV the fuck alone if your name doesn't start with black and end with mage'

AV popped on quetzalcoatl this morning. about 3 or 4 hours ago.

Integral was the LS attempting.

I'm not in integral, but a friend of mine is that doesn't post here, so I can give a pretty good explanation of what happened (I was also there)

Basically, the fight went much smoother if little/no weapon skills/JA's were used. Nuking with the day was also used.

Something to note, every once in a while, they would try to cast Bio. I assume this was to see what would happen.

Almost every time Bio was cast, AV would 2hr.

A few people slipped up and used weapon skills every once in a while. AV would -almost- always 2hr. I can't explain why he wouldn't some times.

They didn't get anywhere as far as I saw, but nuking according to the vana'diel day 100%, without a doubt, effects his usage of 2hrs. So do abilities.

Their final wipe of the morning was when the day changed, someone didn't notice, and used last days element.

AV smiled at them and proceeded to manafont meteor them.

He definitely counters mistakes.

Why is there a female blm hume in full af2 from what I saw never used 2hr and is standing next to AV in almost every shot doing nothing.

I think Bio is a quick "poke with a stick" move. They're trying to see what makes AV trigger, and clearly incorrect elemental damage is a goad to AV.


Following is theory:

The more I read, the more I'm thinking of AV as a floating nuclear reactor. Feed it the right flow of energy (elemental day matching damage) and it stays stable as the reaction (damage) slowly consumes it. Regular melee damage and added effects don't cause instability, since otherwise the earth staffs used to melee in the video would be making AV go off regularly.

Weaponskills are elementally based, so WS damage can trigger AV going unstable and triggering a rapega. Incorrect spells (Bio deals elemental damage) = rapega. PC 2 hours are stabilizers of some kind- since they don't seem to lock AV, the only thing I can think is they act like control rods, damping AV's "flares" of 2hr chain-o-dooms. So AV doesn't have to be perfect to win, but your mistakes are limited by the amount of 2hrs you can use as dampers.

1) Keep nearby monsters cleared (potentially just the Aerns, I don't know), probably via outside helpers. SE specifically said to do this, no reason not to rule it out at this point. May also have something to do with non-retaliatory 2 hour usage from AV.

Wasn't this confirmed a while ago to limit the 2hrs available to AV? I remember Excellence over here on Hades were doing pretty well (*a few months ago*) until the BLM Aern repopped, at which point AV immediately Manafonted and annihilated them.

Please though, definitely correct me if I'm wrong. Just seems like something people have been ignoring in all the rush of pulling apart the SE video.

Flash seemed to be fine.

When I get home I will look at the screen shots I took. I was able to produce that particular screeny b/c someone found it funny to have it as their sig. As I recall, that shield bash was the very first action on AV though.

Flash was fine to use, as was sleep, sleepII, dispel. It seemed to only be damaging spells that set him off. And it also only seemed to be JA's directed at AV that set him off. As far as i coulf tell anyways, i had alot of filters up and was busy tanking. But i think for instance that we used brd/blms with elemental seal for elegy, and that didnt seem to set him off.
