Not really complicated. Pretty trivial to program too.
Did your alliance seem to resist his nukes at all? Did Aeroga or something hit you guys like in the video. Maybe Spamming the different thunders caused his INT to be lowered somehow, maybe why your blms weren't being resisted and in SE's video Aeroga didn't seem to do much to the alliance with them just having casted baraera.Spamming the different tier thunder spells on lightningsday must have done something, blm's weren't getting resisted at all, doing ~800 thunder 4s.
Aeroga was fairly easy to handle. The only messy parts were aeroga or 2hours followed either Impact stream or a fast casted AM2. As the BLMs nuked they noticed slight increases in damage. We got it to 97% with no intention of really damaging it and it really didn't regen too much.
Has nothing to do with the jobs you are fighting it with >_>Originally Posted by tymora

Thanks for the video nice to see what you guys tried in action and to see how bad AV still really is. Can't wait to see your next attempt.
After reading the entire tread last night it helps with a little sleep. watching the vid u posted now made me thinking.
The frist PLD got hit by the EES. And i saw someone say EES in Party, but did someone do EES back on AV? (dont think so since i guess u all had used 2hr earlier?)
Well the interesting part here as i see it is the Aern beeing fought "behind" u. It is also RNG. Seeing a EES go of right b4 it dies.
When a new Aern pops up and get claimed, little time after that AV uses Meikyo Shisui does anyone know if that Aern is SAM?
Same again when another Aern pop, it does Perfect Dodge short after. Was this Aern also THF?
Guess it will be hard to tell, but u see Sword? in the 2nd Aern hands. (i do way to little sea to see what mobs are out of nothing) but if these Aerns are said jobs. We might be on to something, i hope. but
Edit: Well watched the thing again and guess my eyes wasnt quite open yet, seeing right after waking up. Wasnt the EES gfx i saw on the aern was a "normal" TP move. So disregard what i said about it.
I think Waterboy's thoughts are on the right side ^^
Its strange that in the SE's AV Video no Aern's were up except AV.
fixed maybe? are there RNG aerns? >_>Well the interesting part here as i see it is the Aern beeing fought "behind" u. It is also NIN. Seeing a EES go of right b4 it dies.
I've been watching that video over and over, the only conclusion that I've come to so far is that Seksivega is the man.
I need more sleep.

Seriously.
Seriously.
Why do you people even take place in these conversations?
recalling RNG aerns, they have axes, so yea there are ranger ones
i haven't done any serious Sea shit in almost 2 years, so my memory on a lot of mundane shit , like which Aern jobs there are, had to be refreshed to me by an LS member
i think that's happening to a lot of people, they're just not remembering every minute detail of sea, and are getting hammered for it which is uncalled for imo
i've participated in 2 AV fights, but that doesn't make me an expert whatsoever, so using the phrase "half the people here haven't even fought AV" doesn't hold as much water as people think it does
the massive AV thread (the original one) has more info in it than any one person has been able to gather on their own, even if they've fought 200 JOL's and 30 AV's

To be honest if every PLD had a resist build and an Aegis (ok maybe the Aegis wouldnt be needed) I think Chainspell wouldn't be too bad. WoW has resist fights, why not FFXI? I guess none of it really matters though, since there's still meteor and benediction which would prove to be too much of a pain.
Resist (not MDB, or Magic Damage Taken %-) builds will get your ass handed to you on Baha V2, which is ostensibly lower in level than AV. What makes you think that AV would be any different? That's not even to mention there's no resist defense against Meteor aside from Fealty, which is the major problem.Originally Posted by Lockecole7
Really? Guess you've never seen Rukenshin's Fire resist builds on Bahamut v2, where he takes less than 10% damage from a large majority of flares. Even the baraero alone and assumed carol seemed to help them survive AV's magic pretty well. I also stated that Meteor would still be a problem, but thanks for restating that for the rest of us.Originally Posted by Stromgarde
Also, not sure how noone has noticed this yet, but look at 1:30. SAM uses Tachi:Gekko, the second after he uses that, dum dum dum, look what AV retaliates with. EES. Only time he uses EES, and only time a WS is used on him. (ok there's a flat blade later on (don't ask) but that was during CS, so probably not a point where he could retaliate with EES. There's another Flat Blade @7:12 by Seksivega also, which is immediately retaliated with SAM 2 hour by AV. Possibly a relation? Short of the chainspell, those are the only two offensive 2hours used by AV in the whole fight, both of which had an offensive WS used on him first. Only 2 WSes used on him, only EES and SAM 2hour used. Hard to tell with the chainspell, since thats more of a magical ability, perhaps he used it in retaliation to some magic spell. Hard to believe since he was being pelted with magic the whole time.
P.S. The first Invincible was used right after a Thunder shot by a COR, but probably just coincidance as he uses it multiple times later in the fight seemingly without any type of ability to do it in reaction to.
Yeah, what I've never understood is why some people apparently think that the Baraera was supposed to magically do something about Meteor. Meteor is just wipega, plain and simple, and if there's no way to keep him from using it, that's a huge wrench in any plan we can throw out. Barspells/resist builds/Carol are and always have been intended as a defense against Aeroga/Tornado II, not Meteor.
We should seriously have a sticky of information we're actually aware of, and theories that have been tried, to cut the repost stuff to a minimum. I don't blame anyone for not wading through 50 pages of bologna, but at the moment if they don't, it just creates another page of it. I'll work on that after my homework's done if my phone stays deathly silent and I continue to not earn my paycheck
Edit: Also, would it not be JUST like SE to create a mob where meleeing it (in this case WS'ing it) is a terrible idea, and it's basically BLM onry? I mean, that's certainly not anything FFXI end game stuff has been known for or anythingThis would just take it to a whole new level.
