    Re: New Star Wars Movie

Seems like a natural progression to me, the prequels were as close to cartoons as live action can be. The shame of the prequels was that the overall story was actually fairly good, but the horrible dialog, wooden acting from everyone except Ewan fking Mcgregor (who personally saved Episode 3, imo) and cartoon characters (all together the Lucas factor) combined to create some mediocre films.

The last 30-45 minutes of Episode 3, however, were actually quite well in my opinion, and if I recall correctly, the Clone Wars mini-series that ran on CN was actually pretty good. Whenever the Star Wars movies take on a serious tone, I just find them so much more enjoyable.

Anybody who gets bitch slapped by Hayden Christensen doesn't deserve recognition. Jackson is probably going to end up being bitch slapped by Christensen again in Jumper this weekend too.

Samuel L Jackson is the fourth most overrated actor alive today. Jack Nicholson, Al Pachino, and Robert DiNiro are the top three.

That was today's episode of Septimus Says Controversial Things.

Pacino*, and he's not overrated. Pacino's awesome. Yea, Samuel "I say Fuck and get money" L Jackson is extremely overrated. De Niro and Nicholson as well, but the former was not overrated in his younger days. I think Rocky and Bullwinkle did something to him. Something evil.

I will never forgive George Lucas for what he did to Natalie Portman. Her acting was so terrible...

And screw all these damn 3D movies, give me my The Force Unleashed damnit.

I really wish they would do one on KOTOR.. but we all know that would be way too good to be true.

I suppose Dawn of War doesn't count? If you don't like RTS, just rip all the CGS scenes off the disc and watch them instead!

CG Star Wars movie? Awesome. Starring Anakin and Obi Wan? Not so awesome. I think we're all "Annakined out" by now. Now, a movie about something that took place WAY outside of main continuity, such as the Knights of the Old Republic story? That would be really cool.

I could watch a movie specifically about young/middle aged Obi-wan. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought that Ewan Mcgregor was the saving grace of all three movies (especially three, he -owned- that movie)

I have to agree, Obi-Wan made Episode III, at the very least. I'll probably tune in for the first couple of episodes of the cartoon series, the Clone Wars stuff was pretty epic.

I'd agree if Jackson took himself seriously.

Snakes on a Plane. He did it for fun and doesn't take the bad-ass-motherfucker-roles as a religious undertaking. Unlike Jack, Al, or Robert...who gave up having fun doing movies decades ago.

I don't know, DiNiro in Stardust was pretty amusing.

Seems funny calling this one a "cgi movie," as if movies #2 and 3 weren't 99% cgi anyway.

Sorry for the semi necro-bump, but aren't the books post Episode 6 considered canon? I don't know a ton about the books, and even less about the books from Episode 1-3, but if they are, wouldn't they have to fit into that storyline somehow?

Someone mentioned that the new movie is going to take place during Episodes 1-3 (unless I'm misreading?). I know that there are a few books that have been written in the 1-3 "saga," so to say, even if they're not by Lucas himself. Would the novels be relevant to the story of this new movie, considered canon, or are they going to be ignored?

The new movie/series is taking place during the 3 years between Ep2 and Ep3.

I actually dont think there are any non-canon stories out there. There may be unlicensed / fan made stories that are, but all of these offical books, comics, video games, movies with the star wars logo and name are canon and have Lucas' approval. Even if Lucas doesnt right the books, they have to go through him first to get approval. So really any offical media that is out, and has been out between Ep2 and Ep3 (which is alot) has a fair game of being mentioned, as well as new stuff.
