    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

I didn't see you mention Brutal Earring, but I would get one of those ASAP. For legs, at least on Alexander server, Black Cuisses are pretty affordable now. I'd get a pair for WS, and TP (until you land homam). For head, I've gone back to Ohat (not seeing full Guillotine returns every 2 or 3 guillotines was really frustrating, with Ohat it's not more like every 4 or 5 guillotines). For rings, I still WS Woodsman/Rajas for the same reason as Ohat, and because I haven't had much time or interest to finish ToAU and get my U.Ring.

Keep in mind, for Guillotine you will only see very nice numbers on double attack procs usually.

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

Head: O Hat / Adaman Celata if you have enough acc
Neck: Justice Torque / PCC / Chiv Chain... I wouldn't use Gorget even over Chiv Chain personally
    Earrings: Abyssal/Assault/Attack Earring + Brutal
    Body: Haubyberk
Hands: Custom M Gloves, Gigas thing if you have enough acc I guess, AF+1
    Rings: Woodsman/Ulthalam's + Rajas
    Back: Amemet+1 / Forager's
    Waist: Potent Belt
    Legs: Black Cuisses
    Feet: Hecatomb Leggings

Should yield you nice numbers. /sam doesn't do a huge amount to the damage, just the frequency and the TP return. Hasso allows for more consistently high Guillos though (+acc)

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

Best Guillo setup, not including Salvage, Nyzul, or King gear, is this: (substitutable gear in parentheses)

    Main: Tredecim Scythe
    Sub: Pole Strap
    Ranged: ---
    Ammo: Fire Bomblet (Bomb Core)
    Head: Chaos Burgeonet +1
    Neck: Peacock Charm (Chivalrous Chain)
    Ear1: Assault Earring
    Ear2: Brutal Earring
    Body: Haubergeon/Hauberk +1 (or NQ)
Hands: Chaos Gauntlets +1 Hecatomb Mittens
Ring1: Rajas Ring / Accuracy Ring (Thunder Ring works too)
Ring2: Ulthalam's Ring / Accuracy Ring (Thunder Ring works too)
Back: Abyss Cape (Forager's Mantle / Amemet Mantle +1)
    Waist: Warwolf Belt (Potent Belt)
    Legs: Black Cuisses
Feet: Chaos Sollerets +1 / Hecatomb Leggings

Any reason why not Chaos Gauntlets +1 over Heca?

    Because I forgot about them.

Which is sad because I use them - and Chaos Sollerets +1, too. +5 STR, +5 MND.

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

This is mine (Some is HQ, NQ is good of course)

    Main: Perdu Sickle
    Sub: Pole Strap
    Ranged: ---
    Ammo: Bomb Core
    Head: Heca. Cap
Neck: Justice Torque (Same as Vandyr use Chiv .chain over gorget, since gorgets only effect the first hit if I remember.)
    Ear1: Abyssal Earring
    Ear2: Brutal Earring
    Body: Ebody
Hands: Alky Braclets (Or Chaos Gauntlets +1 if I need more acc)
    Ring1: Rajas Ring
Ring2: Flame Ring (Don't really care to get a Triumph to get the 2 mnd back)
    Back: Abyss Cape
    Waist: Warwolf Belt
    Legs: Onyx Cuisses
    Feet: Hecatomb Leggings +1

Definitely work on 8 scythe merits, makes the biggest difference in my mind.

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

Guillotine being a multi-hit WS that has peaks on double attacks/multiple double attacks, I prefer getting enough accuracy to cap/nearly cap accuracy over anything else first. My gear set accomplishes this pretty well and looks like this:

    Weapon: Perdu
    Sub: Pole Strap
    Ammo: Fire Bomblet
    Head: Heca
    Neck: Justice
    Ear1: Brutal
    Ear2: Assault
    Body: Adaman
    Hands: Chaos+1
    Ring1: Rajas
    Ring2: Mars's
    Back: Abyss
    Waist: Life
    Legs: Black
    Feet: Heca

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

Assuming salvage gear, would full ares be the best gearset overall (yeah some pieces are weaker than alternatives, hi2u hands) but the set bonus seems like it would make up for it?

Eh, you give up a lot just for 5% more double attack.

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

Full Ares is pretty bad. Thanks to the dex buff, Heca gear provides a good amount of accuracy and more str for WS, and for tping there's aces/homam, but the body is generally workable for tp and ws assuming the right mobs and merits etc. As for tping, you lose 13-15% haste for 7% DA and 19ish attack 15ish? acc. That's a huge haste loss. Maybe has some HNM uses but still pretty limited.

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

    I use:
    Head: Heca cap
    Neck: PCC
    Ear1: Assault
    Ear2: Triumph (vampire at night)
Body: Plastron (Haub+1 for High Eva)
Hands: Alk. Brc. (Adaman mufflers for high eva)
    Ring1: Woodsman
    Ring2: Sniper
    Back: Foragers
Waist: Potent (should i use warwolf?)
    Legs: Black cuisses
    Feet: Heca

now, if i were to get af+1 hands and feet, would it be better to not use alkys and heca? and is chiv chain better for the str?

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

The 3STR from the Chiv Chain is gonna make a very marginal difference compared to the loss in damage from a missed hit which a PCC could prevent.

I also don't like Warwolf for Guillotine =/ if I use Potent I have about 4~5 more acc with a deficit of 2str; now I can either keep it that way for consistency (normally what I do) or on low eva mobs, Feint'd mobs etc, can switch out some of that acc for greater amounts of str/attack in other slots.

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

I guess mine is near identical to the others.

    Tred Scythe
    Pole Strap
    Bomb Core
    Ohat
    PCA
    Assault
    Brutal
Hauby (Debating trying homam over this when I get, less atk, bit more acc, chances of Triple Attack better?)
    Chaos Gauntlets +1
    Rajas
    Ulthalam's
    Amemet +1
Life Belt (Yeah yeah overloading acc maybe, but I only miss a guillo hit maybe 1/10 times)
    Black Cuisses
    Heca feet

About the only things I cant decide on is body piece (Hauby? Heca? Homam?) and waist (Warwolf maybe better).
Amemet+1 > Foragers, Bomb Core > Bomblet are other minor upgrades.

I really liked your multi-hit excel chart Ruke, I meant to send you a message asking about your opinions on Hauby (non Adaman variety) vs. Heca harness vs. Homam, each seem to have something viable to provide and apart from going out and trying I'm not sure which would be better. I can't do a controlled test on bunnies since it's a multi-hit so I'd have to try it out during exp or something, and just wanted to have a better idea going in of what to expect.

As an aside from that, heca or homam for 300% SATA WSes (spiral/ground strike)? Heca has the STR mod going for it, which would be an improvement to all WSes, but Homam carries that magical triple proc chance which is a huge boost as well. Would the minor increase over time from heca outweigh the occasional TA proc? Considering I SATA WS in 7% DA as well (nothing honestly has proven better, a bit of STR for minor increases in damage versus a good chance on at least 50% more) would the same extend to TA on homam? Even with only 7% DA as /thf I still notice DAs often in TP and probably around 1/10 of my WSes seem to be DAed (Yes it seems higher than the stats would lead to show). What about stacked with an Algol? Any change in preference?

So what say the master of FFXI data collection? Been wondering for a while and I guess this thread led me to start typing it all out finally.

    Re: Guilliotine Damage.

I have a few questions, too.

Would you advise Hecatomb Harness over Haubergeon/Hauberk? Same accuracy, more STR, so you're really only missing the attack and minot DEX boost. Also, ever since my Black Cuisses were ripped off, I've been using Jet Seraweels for my weapon skills. I know scythe ws have a MND boost, and I haven't noticed a real drop in my overall damage with them. This won't be a permanant thing, but for now it seems to work out nicely. Any thoughts?

    Main: Perdu Sickle
    Sub: Pole Strap
    Ammo: Bomb Core
    Head: Chs. Burgeonet+1
    Neck: Chivalrous Chain
    L. Ear: Abyssal Earring
    R. Ear: Brutal Earring
    Body: Hecatomb Harness
    Hands: Chs. Gauntlets+1/Hecatomb Mittens
    L. Ring: Rajas Ring
    R. Ring: Ulthalam's Ring
    Back: Abyss Cape
    Waist: Warwolf Belt
    Legs: Jet Seraweels
    Feet: Chs. Sollerets+1/Hecatomb Leggings
