I went to sea with the intention of mapping out the Aerns in the area of the Goblin Footprint, but there was a group there killing the occasional Aern, so I wasn't really able to do that. Instead, I just recorded the jobs of every Aern I killed in the small area at the footprint and immediately northeast of it:

7:53:12 WHM
7:56:40 SAM
7:58:38 WAR
8:00:53 RNG
8:03:31 WHM
8:05:15 WAR
~8:10:00 Watched RNG being killed
8:12:18 BRD
8:14:19 RDM
8:17:10 ??? - Axe, no /ra, no double attack, no pet

I had to cut it short after half an hour, but the redeeming thing IMO is that I was unable to get rid of the WHM (I can't find out what the respawn time on these is, but I was pretty sure it was the same WHM all 3 times). If these mobs are related to one of the sets of 2 hours that AV has available, not too surprising that Square would discourage you from fighting it at the entrance by sticking a WHM there.

EDIT: BTW, yes I know all about sample sizes. I'm not claiming anything here is statistically significant, just trying to generate a little interest in someone collecting some data so we can map out Aern jobs for testing purposes, at least here and at the JoL area.

Agreed. I don't think anyone has been able to 100% lock regen so far, and then test the results.

AV uses Perfect Dodge.
AV uses Chainspell.
AV uses Call Wyvern.
BLMs cast Aeroga 3 on AV+Wynavs, Wynavs didnt die.
Random WHM pulls AV with dia. AV readies Soul voice.
AV uses hundred fists.
AV ???? Call Wyvern.
AV uses chainspell.
AV uses Meiko Shisui

So, so far we got 3 readies, as far as I've seen.

One which was triggered by the Additional Effect, from the Dev's Earth Staff, on a wrong day. [Chainspell]

A second which was triggered by someone casting Dia on AV, again on a wrong day. [Perfect Dodge]

And then a third, as we see here, where a WHM again casts Dia, on a wrong elemental day. [Soul Voice]


I've looked through everything, and I haven't seen any other times where we've seen that message, please correct me if there is.

But to me, so far, it looks like the readies message is triggered by a wrong elemental nuke, on a wrong day.
So far it has only triggered the.. let's say 'basic' 2-hours (Being the above three, which we have all seen being used without any other provokation).


Edit: Looking at the top of the page, I see this;

It looks like that was either triggered by the Flash from Izura, that Siknoz said, or the fact that Squirtle used Provoke on one of AV's Wynavs (If Provoke is the thing that triggered it, it kind of disproves my theory though).
Note; this is again Soul Voice, which is identical to one of the above three.

The whole fight was watersday, windsday, and iceday. Also it happens that a summoner (that tag'd AV at a point or another, its hard to remember the order of events from screenshots) summoned garuda but i dont think it mattered anyway.

i was that smn, it was winds day, i managed to assault garuda, run up, astral flow, then ate a random aoe i didnt see much of the chatlog and it didnt seem to do anything in particular. kinda pissed you guys made no headway. is there any plans on fairy to get an alliance of hnms together, since it really seems no one shell has enough strength/jobs to swap in and out on this guy.

He kills people much faster than you can switch them in and out of an alliance. No massive number of people will enable to simply "overpower" him with numbers, sorry.

I think we're losing something in translation, MAYBE, they might be saying 'lock the fucking regen you stupid americans' because in 100% locked regen state he switches modes?

Who knows really, but they keep stressing it, maybe 1/3 regen from JoL, 1/3 from element nuke, 1/3 from aern, all properly locked he behaves a bit better?

In the chatlogs posted (in which players used their 2hrs) no player used Manafont when AV 2hrs, in dev's video every time AV 2hrs theres at least one BLM "replying" with a Manafont.

Analyzing the video, the dev team used pld/nin and rdm/nin as tanks, jobs that build hate in a linear way and their actions seemed pretty constant, their blms also nuked in a linear pattern, it is possible that noticeable hate shifts are what triggers AV's rapega mode. This might not only happen when you get on top of the hate queue, but even when you get on a "higher" position in it.
That can explain the retailation to actions like Dia, Bio, Charm, but also the Chainspell activated in dev's video right after Elmaulle uses Invincible.
This behavior might be "deactivated" during a short (?) window right after one of his 2hr goes off (hence the 2hr spam).

I'd say they could be correlated, not necessarily an increase but like has been said before, the lower his hp gets the less hp he has.

I don't think flash nor bio or any other spell it seems triggers his 2 hours, so far all seem to be trigger by an ability. Yes even eating a sausage might trigger his 2 hour because it contains the word "uses" in it. Still could be wrong but I looked into it and more leans towards the "uses" then spells that cause his 2 hour.
