The strangest part of the DRG is if you watch the start of the NA video, he is casting -ga spells on the Sharks. So he obviously changed from BLM to DRG for some reason.


Another thought as to why you see the SAM & DRK come rushing in durring chainspell, is maybe durring a 2hour is the only "safe" time to melee it. We do see the DRK eat it at one point, so its not safe in that way, but it might have something to do with regen or something else.

Depending on how many different sets there are, i was thinking how SE mentioned his 2 hours were tied directly to the number of monsters remaining. considering theres 3 aerns where he spawns, i was thinking that the NUMBER of them up would influence which set of 2 hours he would use. it might not solve the individual 2 hour use but if you could avoid a nasty combo in exchange for a livable one, it would still help for his rapega modes. for example, if there were 3 different sets... (disgustipated says theres chainspell > manafont > soul voice; and mighty strikes > hundred fists > blood weapon), and say one other, then as an example:

3 aerns up: manafont combo
2 aerns up: mighty strikes combo
1 aern up: some other combo
no aerns up: random combo? no combos used? another combo yet?

in essence, the jobs themselves wouldnt matter, only the number of them up. as far as the single target 2 hours, i got no idea, but i kinda wonder... what if AVs max hp goes down each time he benidictions? in that case you would kinda want it then wouldnt you? for example, say AV had 200k HP, and you got him down to 150k HP. he benidictions for 25k hp, yet goes up to 100%. the remaining 25k is lost to the aether, and while it feels like all your hard work is lost, you actually made some progress. however, if you dont take care of his regen, his regen RESTORES his max hp until its back to the normal cap. so you have to remove the regen completly and keep plowing on till hes got the hp of a vorpal bunny and you can simply finish him off with a well timed spike of damage. :rocl:

the retaliation theory does seem promising though. but cant there be a way to count how much hp AV would have using parser? you could calculate total damage after hes reached a certain %, record it, continue fight, then when he benidictions you can record the total damage again, then when you reach the % again, record the total damage, subtract the total damage right after he benis, and figure out if his max hp has gone down. just a thought. :elmer:

The 2h does not wear off. We used soul voice after av did and he kept on charming people.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the last time my shell fought AV(several months ago) we dragged it to the bridge... we found Soul Voice to be the biggest pain on that attempt because it just charmed our tanks and then raped our mages.... At anyrate, our main PLD was telling me the other night that Fealty should allow you to resist Virelai, it works for Vrtra's charm at anyrate~

Here's what kind of damage he took from Meteor(ShellV/Aegis, not sure how many others were hit however, I remember being on the bridge and did not take any damage)

Thanks for the confirmation on that. I thought Fealty would help with Charm although I couldn't be completely sure. Also, is Fealty up for those screenshots or just a good magic defense build?

No Fealty, he was unaware that Fealty could reduce damage like that untill he saw the screen shots of it~ I think it was darksday and he has a Shadow Ring... other than that and Lamia Kaman +1 I don't think he had any other MDB on. And fuck SE for making such a retarded BRD song....

The fealty thing...while very informative...is not very useful at this state. In Manafont mode he only casts spells...

That means you have to have your mages run out of the way as he first uses it, pray to god his first spell isn't Meteor (We usually saw comet first) stay out for 30 seconds, while tanks eat possible multiple instant cast meteors and take "only" 500 or so damage each? Not to mention the range is about 30 (probably more) and is out of casting range completely. Um maybe if you have 70 or so people I guess and all your healers are paladins with fealty merited. Sorry I don't mean to be rude, but it isn't plausible.
