Re: Absolute Virtue & You: A Learning Experience

im much more leaning to the fact that a wrong ele move will boost his tp greatly, because after 1 flash some times (very rarely) he did not respond, but if a second flash when off, he AWLAYS did... perhaps its feeding him 50% tp per wrong ele move? that would also explain why AV tends to use a 2h almost always at the start because everyone is like "oh shit, av! flash!" << oh and

Re: Absolute Virtue & You: A Learning Experience

EDIT i originally assumed DRK's WS was Shadow of Death because that makes Fragmentation (which would be the logical choice of SC on thunder-day wouldn't it..)
EDIT2 we didn't see them create SC, doesn't mean it wasn't part of their strategy...
EDIT3 your impressive head-banging aside, it is mucho off topic
EDIT4 of the feats in SE's video, creating a SC is something within the playerbase's reach unlike having a 2hr party with a certain Aern, i wonder what AV's response to lv 1-2-3 SC would be?
EDIT5 posting by haughty demo members only? idts...
i tried pointing it out on page 35 original thread...
then on page 12 here, only to the amusement of some...
when AV is killed as you can see from four angles two melee jobs use weapon skills and they are:
    Dark Knight: (Catastrophe) right?
    Samurai: Tachi Gekko
but wait, AV uses stun-aga ability and the sam's SATA is the last JA animation before it...
    THEY WERE TRYING TO SKILLCHAIN
look carefully that isn't Thunder IV, it's about 5x Thunder 2 or so...
but doesn't cata > gekko create darkness?? hm

Hasn't it been established already that even if no one uses JA's, or WS's, or any elemental spells of the wrong day, AV will still use 2-hours at a normal frequency? And that one of these can be Manafont? If so, then there's clearly more to beating him then simply sticking to attacks of the day's element.

    Nothing relevant, yeah.

Re: Absolute Virtue & You: A Learning Experience

By the way, according to Siknoz's screenshot the WHM used flash not dia to pull. I edited my post so it wont confuse more people. Anyway I really dont think any of this "if use use a move of the wrong element it'll use 2 hr". Flash is being spammed by the tanks through out the fight so of course there will be 1 just before AV uses his 2 hr or TP attacks.

Anyway, Has anyone seen AV "ready" a 2 hr more than once in a single fight (Pesonally i havent seen the same AV spawn ready a 2 hour twice)? if not then maybe we should focus on the difference between his behavior before and after that?

The second an aern poped, it used Manafont straight away... >< opps

Also, I noticed it used EES in (what SEEMED to be) response to traubador...

Holding again, will let you know anything else ~

I realize aeroga isn't the thing people can't deal with but does a +wind elemental build actually work on him?

I thought it was odd that SE made a point of using baraera and that their tanks didn't swap gear during chainspell. Has there been any evidence of baraera having reactionary effect on AV?

If anyone is in for a long read, I have an entry in a live journal concerning the enmity theory I had posted about previously. I apologize for the extremely long read, but it might be worth taking a look at to some of you attempting AV soon.

so, AV used Manafont without Chainspell being active, always thought those 2 go together?

This is the 2nd time this has been reported. How on earth do you prevent aerns popping? (If they need to be killed in the first place, that is).

-ga'd wyverns to start, first thing the fucker does is manafont..... also had a blm use manafont directly after, and it still meteor'd twice

He's mad at us for some reason, we can't figure it out right now, only thing we did was use flash.. is it possible this was it? it being waterday atm

Chainspell has nothing to do with it, comet is not instant cast, meteor from AV is.

Re: Absolute Virtue & You: A Learning Experience

I realize that many laugh at the idea of SE using RDM tanks/various gear choices etc. in the AV video. But assuming that it is not possible to actually lock all of his 2 hours. Assuming that you cannot completely control what he is able to use and that you can only slow the excessive use of those 2 hours. Assuming that you will most likely need to deal with Meteor at one point or another...

Isnt a tank party consisting of several WELL-GEARED and CAPABLE RDM tanks going to have the best chance of surviving and recovering from Meteor or multiple Meteors? Has it been seriously considered and would any LS's be willing to try it?

Except for a couple support and BLMs to keep regen down; keep everybody out of range until a safe 2 hour is used and then youre able to do a few moments of damage, slowly and over time.

Any LS think this would be a viable strategy?

Re: Absolute Virtue & You: A Learning Experience

Another attempt... ga'd down the stupid wynavs again.

Wanted to see if AV liked SA/TA this time. He doesnt. Manafont.... then destruction.

We held Aerns around him again, jobs: RDM, NIN, THF.

Fuck AV! He was pretty nice to us when we fought DIRECTLY after pop, until he SV and charmed everyone >.> we 2hrd to try to counter... or stop it... or something, no effect.

I think Aegis PLDs with a decent MDB set are a better choice than RDMs.
-50% magic damage taken with just Shell V puts them at the cap, then can use MDB everywhere else.
Also have more HP than a RDM tank.

It seems pretty clear by now that matching AV's 2-hours does nothing to inhibit his current 2-hour. If it has any sort of enfeebling effect, then it probably applies to future 2-hour usage. Therefore, once he's used a 2-hour the only thing you can do is survive it normally; and if he uses Manafont then it's already too late.

If there's truly any way to control which 2-hours AV uses, the only thing that makes sense is matching AV's 2-hours as is shown in the video.

Popped on Sylph. It went unclaimed almost right after popping when a tank died. Proceeded to Manafont > Meteor and wipe us. As far as I saw, I didn't see spells or abilities that should have caused it. Saw some flashes and dispels, that's about it.

Re: Absolute Virtue & You: A Learning Experience

After our first ever Jailer of Love attempt which took us far longer than we'd originally expected, Absolute Virtue decides to come up and say hello. Since we totally weren't expecting it to pop and most of us clueless as to what to do against him, we did various other things to it as it proceeded to rapestomp us. Here's the log of the (very short) fight. Here's to hoping that maybe these logs will give us all even the remotest of clues as to what affects his behavior.

Re: Absolute Virtue & You: A Learning Experience

In my LJ link above I put an idea in there about maybe matching a 2hr that he readies with the same 2hr might be the connection that we are missing. The other times they spammed might have just been precautionary, maybe this is what throws him into Bracelet Mode or maybe it just calms him down.
