Sorry but I've been working since this thread was up. w/e think what you want, but if you didn't realize Tank had nothing more than a random haymakers chance in hell to win this fight, then you know next to nothing about fighting. Next to nothing about the work/dedication/obsession that Kimbo has put into his training, and the almost complete opposite lack of training Tank put to prepare for this fight. He even stated on Jimmy Kimmel that he doesn't train for these types of things.

He did this fight for a paycheck no less than Kimbo's initial fight. This fight proved nothing.

I know absolute dick about MMA or fighting or any of that shit, but I wanted to know, how legit are those 2 guys on the show Fight Quest? Just curious, I was watching the other day and they get their ass beat pretty bad, plus I'd think you'd have to be pretty versatile in order to just up and learn brand new fighting styles like that in 5 days, then do several matches with professionals in that field.

One of them fights with Team Punishment, he seems legit to me never seen him fight mma. Thing is in MMA you learn multiple disciplines and combine them, in the show (they pick up and leave to get whooped for money and education) they are learning mostly new concepts and fighting people that train solely in that style.

You've obviously never done organized fighting before. Hell even organized sports of any kind. You know that team you always beat? Or that guys ass you know you can always kick. Or even visa versa, that guy who you have no chance against? This was one of those situations. I can't imagine what would make you think otherwise. How could he have dominated that fight more? Was there a SINGLE positive thing Tank did that whole fight?

Tank winning was about as probable as the big bang happening. Next you'll tell me you believe in that. Possible? Yes. Probable? Not in a million years. Saying something has the potential of happening doesnt change the fact that it's not going to in this lifetime. Not a hard concept to wrap your head around.

In organized sports getting a goal scored on you against a shitty opponent could be similar to a worse fighter getting that lucky punch in. They wont win the entire game but they can occasionally win those small battles for the ball.

exactly. every opponent is dangerous. no matter if i'm fighting some local "hero" or an actual trained fighter...i train just as hard. anyone can get a lucky punch in. the "likelyhood" of that happening is a LOT more with someone like tank because of his background and his unreal strength. one punch can end your night...always. if you actually fought, you'd understand that.

The answer, in the current condition/skill/age he is, the answer is No. A big emphatic bolded, No. If they both fought 10 times, do I ever think Tank would win? No. And that was all my point was. This isn't fucking theorycraft, this is asking if you think a fighter has a chance against another. 1% chance is not a chance, 5% chance is not a chance.

I've been saying tank had NO chance since the day this fight was scheduled. I've always thought tank was an over-rated fighter who had heavy hands and fought in a day and age when fighter's weren't even close to the caliber they are today. Though if we're both agreeing he had a snowballs chance in hell, then I guess we are actually on the same page.

My point was that you don't need to be involved in a sport to know that ANY team can beat any team at any one point, or that any fighter can potentially lose to any other fighter. I don't know if you're lolling at the fact that I stated I fight..but ok. Since this is a topic regarding MMA, I thought it might be valid. Should I put a fist in my avatar? I'm not sure you can discredit him because you've never seen him fight. And I'm not too sure as to what the argument is really about, because one person is saying "Yeah, I picked Kimbo, but Tank still had 1% chance at winning" and the other is "Tank still had a chance at winning, anything can happen."

Meh, I figured Kimbo would win, even though I heard that Tank was actually going to train for this fight. Tank is way past his prime (if there ever was one :D), and he's getting pretty old.

So, getting away from your queer argument, a friend of mine was in Vegas during this event. They were at a sports bar, so the NBA dunk contest, the EliteXC event, and the Taylor/Pavlik boxing match were being shown simultaneously. Basically it was a couple hours of people pointing at various TVs going "Oooooh holy shit!" - most notably at the flying knee knockout in the Edwards/Berto fight (undercard in the EliteXC).

So afterwards, they were at some random bar, and they were talking to some random girl basically about how awesome Kimbo Slice is (they are big fans), trying to describe him. The 3rd friend, who is kinda quiet, is sitting there being quiet as usual, when out of nowhere he says: "Basically, this sums up Kimbo" and slides a napkin over:

You see fighters like Frank Shamrock, who came in with that arrogant confidence into every fight. He knew he was going to win because he knew he trained and understood fighting above and beyond most of his competition. Has nothing to do with disrespecting or underestimating your opponent. Only person who disrespected Tank was himself by even walking into the cage that night.

i am by no means defending tank...he's one of the most disrespectful fighters out there and he gives MMA a bad name. i was glad to see kimbo destroy him...which i was fairly sure he'd do. only thing i took offense to you in your posts was the inflection that there was no way on earth he could have won...which came off disrespectful to me. back on topic-ish...here's those links that i promised earlier. not my best fight or showing by far...but only one i have on the internets at the moment.
