I personally really love his work, and found this to be a good read. Theres also a link to the article they did on Yoshitaka Amano there for those of you who missed that.

Kind of a boring video honestly... it didn't say anything new, didn't even talk about the whole leaving Square and joining with Sakaguchi to create Mistwalker.. ;x And god that interviewer guy was annoying.. "like" and "you know" every other word.
page 2?
Yeah. Not sure if you noticed or had time, but there are pages 2-11 to think about. >.>; Also, I think 3 parts to the video itself. I'm about to start video 2. =P
Best reason ever!1UP: What made you finally decide to leave Square altogether? Was it just that you wanted more creative freedom or you didn't want to be tied down to Final Fantasy projects specifically? Or maybe you didn't like the direction the company was going in when they merged with Enix? What made you want to break out and form your own company like Dog Ear Records and Smile Please?
KY: [In Japanese] This is probably the question that everyone wants to ask the most...
NU: [In Japanese] The answer's not going to be that exciting.
KY: [In Japanese] I haven't even asked it yet. [Laughs]
NU: It's not exciting at all. I don't even know if you're going to be convinced with it. It's because the SquareEnix office moved from Meguro to Shinjuku.
The entire article is a great read but this was probably my favorite quote:

And I didn't notice it had multiple parts to it, thanks.
How the fuck is FF series stale? They have completly different team every times, and none of the game play the same.

Not saying that a Final Fantasy game needs to have every little tradition upheld to the letter, though.Originally Posted by Exoduso
I read his post, you dont need to bold anything. I just dont understand how he is worried about the series becomming stale when there is no indication it will ever be.Originally Posted by miokomioko

I got the impression that Uematsu almost wanted to come out and say he felt betrayed by the company, but knew that'd be a stupid thing to say since he still has to maintain good relations with them. I don't know, but I was just fascinated by the sadness his answers took on when it came to discussing Sakaguchi's departure from Square.

I don't believe the Final Fantasy games are in danger of becoming stale, but I also don't believe they're Final Fantasy games anymore. It'd be like if John Grisham wrote a sequel to the Lord of the Rings, maybe it'd be an excellent book but it sure as hell wouldn't be Lord of the Rings anymore.
Yeah, you're right. Maybe I shouldn't have said stale, but it definitely could become a shadow of what it once was in the future. Much like your analogy.
I understand what you mean, but team working on FF changed a lot since psx era every games. For another series like Xenosaga, I would complain, but I dont feel the same attachment toward the original creator for FF series.Originally Posted by Xavier
Nobuo's point has nothing to do with Final Fantasy series quality dropping, but rather that the concept belongs to Sakaguchi so it should stop when he says so or is no longer involved. This conflict has been around since forever though.
Aww it's Milkman!
If you think about it, FF changed more between 1 and 4 than it did between, say, 8 and 12. And in a way, the reason it won't get stale is because it'll keep changing like that, even though people will complain that it's not FF anymore.
