Elmer, do you by chance have the untranslated version of the manga? I'm the type of person who likes to read manga in raw format, especially so because I can read Japanese myself.

I'm saving all the "originals" as I translate them. I could zip them up, but they will be a little messier maybe since they're unedited.

I work with comics all day, so I can give you some tips on making them "cleaner" and stuff...

Try scanning them in-- 100 threshold, Black and White (Document) at 1000-1200 DPI. This gets rid of any "excess" grey areas, and just pulls out the black and white.

Thanks, I actually read a lot of manga helpers to get me started. I didn't know jack about cloning before I tried this. About the scanning though... I don't want to make any manga fans cry, but I'm actually limited to just taking pictures of the pages with my digital camera...

Sorry for the delay. I waited a bit since I planned to get a scanner, and I just got one over the weekend. It's a simple USB-powered Canon, and I've scanned in and translated 3 more chapters of FFXI manga, which are now available in the OP.

Took me a bit to get the hang of scanning them and keeping good quality throughout the editing and conversion process, but I think they came out really nice. Any suggestions are still more than welcome.
