What was he using before he got the Wi-fi thing? My Wii is currently leeching off of a wireless access point, and it only has two bars. I've been kinda hoping that would be enough for decent matches so I don't have to spend money on something else.
I believe he said he was using a "crappy Linksys wireless router" and mentioned something about being too close (?) to his connection. I don't know, I'll direct him to this thread.
Crappy Linksys Wireless-G router! I'm not sure what it was, to be honest. Our laptop gets a nice strong signal downstairs on the main floor, but the basement gets horrible reception and upstairs in my room with the router anywhere from a few inches to a few feet away, also horrible reception. I'll chalk it up to Linksys being unreliable since that's the general consensus about most Linksys products.

As for the videos, there are 21 up now (plus the first 2 episodes of arrested development, best show ever (ask Russta)), although I've got about 40 from the all-day recording session so if there's any requests for levels or characters I may already have something, otherwise I'll just have to kick Russta's ass all over again.
Do what you must for the good of Brawl-kind.

As for the Olimar thing, only the white pikmin do any serious poison damage when thrown at people (0 to 48% if you don't shake one off, all other colours do 16% max with the exception of the fat purple ones that just knock you around) but they all scale down as % goes up, so if you put 2 white ones on it goes to a max of 90, 6 white ones do maybe 150, and that's if the other person doesn't move at all cause they get shaken off or killed pretty easily. That being said though, Olimar has some really strong attacks and given that most of them involve tossing a tiny pikmin in a general direction they're kinda hard to predict.

In that case, how about a video with (normal) Samus? She was my main in Brawl, and again, almost no videos of her on Youtube. People are too busy using the new characters, I suppose.

If he had better recovery he'd be Jesus.
That 148% video is VERY best case scenario. The chance of sticking all them Pikmin onto someone isn't very likely as they're killed by attacks and no one is ever really standing still in Smash Bros for more than a second. He is strong, his attacks and throws have insane range on them and he does have a huge amount of potential but I can't stress enough that he is really, really hard to play as; he's not for everyone. As a huge fan of Pikmin, that sadly includes me.
It's ok. I mained the Ice Climbers last game, starting 3 days after release, and actually bothered to learn about desynching and shit. Everybody hated IC forever and swore they were worthless and I made them fear those two at my local tournies, so I like the "challenging" characters, even if other characters (imo) were still easier to use and often more powerful.

Regardless, Olimar will have to work incredibly hard to oust PT from my top spot, not to mention Lucario, Wolf, and Diddy. Thanks again for all the impressions, even if I hate you for having Brawl when I don't.

I too would like to see some videos of normal Samus. She was also my main in melee. Wolf too if possible (but mainly Samus).

There's one with wolf up already, and I think I've got another hiding somewhere I can throw up there later. We'll work some Samus in next time.

Toon Link there. Despite Russta touching himself repeatedly whenever he plays Meta Knight, he didn't play him at all the day I was recording. I'm sure it'll get thrown in next time (looking most likely to be Friday)

    Re: My Brawl Videos

I can't watch stage6 videos, but you guys should give Pikachu a try. He's definitely #2 on my interest list (Pit #1), and I had zero interest in him in Melee. However, Pikachu was the top tier character in N64, and there's a lot of undeniably good things about him in Brawl.

    - He can kill much easier towards the top now with his Thunder being back in N64 form, having the least amount of lag in any of the Super Smash Bros. games
    - The thunderbolt itself seems to have the same knockback regardless of weather you're hit directly by it or run into it later
    - His thunderjolt now has some knockback + extra speed unlike in melee where it just stopped you one second
    - He has a Peach D-Smash that sends upwards now (again, linking into some u-airs or thunder kill),
    - Easy easy to intercept somebody off stage and make it back with auto-sweetspotted quick attacks
    - His f-air is just like the N64 f-air, getting several hits and knocking them a good distance back so you're not punished
    - Skull Bash has increased speed and decreased lag, enchancing it for recovery; it also auto-sweetspots the ledge. Skull Bash + Quick Attack means that Pikachu can never really die, similar to how Luigi just can't fucking die in Brawl.
    - Has inescapable headbutts, similar to Fox's shine or kicks, when up against a wall (Shadow Moses, Pokemon Stadium).
    - His b-air has 7 hits to it, flailing around like a granny in a bathtub, making it a crazy shield eater and damage builder; it's much MUCH better than it was in Melee. (we all miss his back kick in N64 though)
    - N-air seems to have the same knockback regardless of when it connects with the opponent
    - Has a new, extremely annoying taunt. This combined with "Pika Pika!" will cause the opponent to forfeit the match from time to time, unable to tolerate the immense amount of pikaing.

    Negatives:
    - u-air no longer has that strange semi-spike property that killed people in Melee
    - u-Smash is no longer nearly as strong as it was in Melee (I believe it was stronger than even Fox's in Melee)
    - His range is still not that great compared to other characters, aside from his D-Smash
    - Lightweight, but for some reason he's heavier than Zero Suit Samus.

I never got along with Pikachu but my old friend from PSO was mind blowingly good with him in Melee.

And what do you see in Pit? He's terrible.

Eh she's not actually cheap at all, only her side B has any real devastating power, she's basically what would happen if sheik's whip didnt suck and everything she did revolved aorund it. Fast, really easy to juggle and edgehog with, her up B is a pain in the ass if she's under you though, multi hit, shocks, and the end of it spikes.

    Eh, it's true!

His Up+B move is just a way to get back on the arena, absolutely no damage comes from it. Hell, even Sonic's spring does some damage to others and can be reused.

His Down+B is, effectively, no damage. Sure, it's a reflector but did we really need one of them on a character like this?

His neutral B bow is pretty hard to aim accurately and does small damage and knockback.

His side B move is ok I guess but lacks any punch.

His smash moves also lack real power and his voice is REALLY irritating. The only thing he excels at is getting back onto the arena, which isn't exactly a good foundation to build on. Shit, even the sacrifices he calls can be killed before they do any damage to you.

I've read a lot of the "pros" dismissing Zero Suit Samus. I haven't had a massive go with her as I'm not the biggest fan of Samus but I know that from playing through Subspace Emissary that if she was a seperate character I'd like to use her a fair bit.

Wow, that's incorrect if I've ever seen it before. Fast attacks, disjointed hitbox, high priority, spammable arrows that can adjust in direction and have the flexibility of being fired up to 3 times while recovering to keep pressure high, great aerials that all have practically 0 lag upon landing, the most insane Up-B in the game, the only downside being that it can't be used again after being hit, but with flexibility such as going under the damn stage and grabbing the other side, it's not always easy to gimp him. Aside from up-B he still has gliding to help him out.

Over-B is also really good when you expect the opponent to DI towards you, such as when they're towards the ledge. With such fast attacks, you would think killing would be a big problem, but his b-air, f-smash, and d-smash all have great killing power. Incorporating turn-around b-airs is a big part of Brawl, but Pit's b-air is one of the few b-airs that actually kill people. Pit is one of the best characters for intercepting a character off the stage with u-air, b-air, or f-air, while making it back to the stage with absolutely ZERO chance of SD as long as he's not beaten to the punch with a spike.

Also, for whatever reason, Pit is medium-weight in Brawl and not lightweight.

Why do you think Falco was one of the best characters in Melee? He had speed, a wonderful approach with short hop lasers, great combo potential, and very sufficient killing potential. And really, Pit has all of those qualities in many ways. All of these put together make for a great character, and Falco had the 2nd worst recovery in the game. Yes, the arrows are not short hopped, but they're the most efficient projectile in Brawl at the moment, and are incredibly easy to approach and keep pressure with (and they don't just do 2%).

Have you even seen DEHF's Pit? These videos are WITHIN the first 3-4 days or so. He's great and shows how Pit should be played.

Nope, I was being serious and giving my clearly misinformed opinion of him after maybe half a dozen games as playing as him. Those videos are pretty impressive; I'm play as Pit more to his style.

To be fair, I've never been that huge of a fan of the fast characters (which is why it was so irritating that they were the best in Melee) and guess I play the same style with everyone as I do with Ike. And I think if someone gave the same opinion of Ike that I did with Pit, I'd post something akin to what you did.
