Brad Pitt is anything but underrated. He's a great fucking actor but he's rated as a great fucking actor.

Ben Affleck is either intolerable or great.

Nicholson has done great stuff (one flew over the cuckoo's nest) but he's so typecast it's retarded.

He is the only man I have seen whose desire for cowbell excedes my own.

He needs to do more movies so he can maybe shame some other actors into trying harder.

Echoing what's been said already; he's notoriously picky about what roles he'll play, and spends extensive amounts of time researching the characters he plays. He spent a year as a shoe maker in italy to prepare for one role, and apparently chooses to stay in-character offset even during the entirety of a movies filming.

It's not a surprise he's a phenomenal actor, but given his dedication to the art, it gives him very little public exposure, and thus, very little recognition outside of film snob circles.

I am a big Rutger Hauer fan, I've never been able to explain why. I wish he'd actually get a real role instead of the low budget crap.

edit: along the lines of low budget actors: Bruce Campbell, the fact he can entertain with an average budget of $1.37 per movie impresses me a lot.

I figured Denzel and Matt went w/o saying. I feel ashamed however for not mentioning Terrance Howard, as he is great, and Don fucking Cheadle, as he is amazing, and Hotel Rwanda is one of my favorite movies. And Jim Carey is win too. Dumb and dumb is one of the funniest/timeless comedies that I will watch until i am 80 and he is surprisingly versatile, hello man on the moon and truman show (<3).

I thought the Truman Show may have been the single greatest acting performance I've ever seen. It was (i think) the first non-comedic performance he done in a lead role, and I can recall people wondering if he could pull it off, and he fucking knocked it out of the ballpark. It really was amazing. Who won the oscar that year? Was it Spacey for American Beauty that year? Carrey was still robbed

I'm sorry I'm young but what has he done thats really good? Besides the Bourne movies really. He narrated a documentary my teacher showed us(that they actually showed him in for some reason) in Biology and I've hated him ever since because of it.

Leo's a great actor. Unfortunately I find him personally repellent and difficult to like. Took me a while to recognize his acting skill since I had essentially written him off after 'Romeo + Juliet'

There are tons and tons of underrated TV actors. I could write for hours on the entire cast of 'The Shield' and how if you haven't watched any of that show, you haven't lived.
