New Equipment (2/19/08)

The way I see it, if they're "adding new equipment" and the best they can come up with is three weapons...it makes me less than cautiously optimistic. It's been quite some time since we got an update with a nice long list of new gear. I would hope that they've got something better in store than a retextured Amood n' such.

I agree. I love new stuff being added, but I hate when they just shovel more crap into the game. The "normal" gear is more than taken care of at this point. If that GAxe isn't one of the top 5 endgame GAxes, then why add it? That sort of thing.

last time they did this it ended up being the lolcorslet, holloween hat, sam/rng body armor. I hope these weapons/armor are better/useful >.>

That wasn't the last time they did this by a long shot. That was 4 times ago, the time after that they did this when they added Salvage gear, the time after that they added Einherjar rewards and new Perdu weapons, and the time after that was the Pankration patch that I'm just going to gloss over because it doesn't help the point I'm attempting to make.

I have a bad memory, so it's entirely possible that I'm off with this, but doesn't it seem like they're tearing off tiny little bits and pieces of update information to post about more so than in the past? I'm waiting for another announcement in a few days: "Adventurers, the update will introduce to the world of Vana'diel a handful of updated files! More information at a later date. Keep checking back!"

Anyways, Perdu Hanger should tell a lot of you (BLUs especially), that looking plain looking weapon models won't give away how good or bad a weapon will or won't be. Something to bitch about to pass the time tho, rite?

I guess some people just really hate new weapons and armor and were hoping they'd never add any more.

It's a love hate; we would love new armor/weapons, but we hate it when they do release new armor/weapons, and 90% of the time they suck balls. And if they dont suck balls, it takes a huuuge amount of effort to get, not that getting certain armor/weapons without effort is good (though I am cheap and lazy, so it would be good for me), it's just a hassle for little gain.

I follow the school of philosophy that if you are going to make something that sucks and is worthless, then just save time by not making it at all. That being said I will reserve judgement here till we can at least see some stats.

Correct me if I'm off, but that Jambiya actually is a new skin. The standard old Jambiya/Khimaira variant didn't have the gold running down half of the blade. Also the hilt looks different (different color), and the very bottom right of the blade, where it met the hilt, didn't curve up and in; It simply met the hilt.

And Swordbreaker, Nyzul Thief Relic weapon, is a pink Thief Knife, just to clarify. (It also had a different hilt/stitching on the handle, and some dots or some shit on it.

I am seeing a couple things here:

A Corsair in full AF holding a Hexagun in what looks to be Jugner Forest ([S]? or Carpenter's Landing). ... A Galka in Sipahi gear with the new-skinned Amood in Windurst Waters [S].

I wish we could assume the background meant something, but I'd bet SE just went 'Oh, that looks pretty there, slap the model onto that one!'. :/

Be nice if it was for DNC, but they have no semi heavy gear sets.

Be nice to see a few more hexagun options, COR weapon selection is still a mite thin in the "pulling gun" department (basically, Peacemaker) or endgame hexagun (cause most folks use Coffinmaker/Martial Gun).

That's exactly why this update is lame, jack and shit is shown except models for weapons we've already seen, one of the three being a model that as of yet hasn't produced anything good (lolamood).
