New Equipment (2/19/08)

Last time SE posted "New Equipment" it turned out it was Einherjar equipment. I think only like 3 people server wide actually have a Valkeryie's Fork, so don't get too overexcited about this new equipment :/

While I escaped unharmed, my notes were stolen and turned into abjurations before the fiends escaped. Fortunately the 3 headed dog only got my situational great sword, the 3 headed snake got my armor that i planned to smelt down and turn into cheap affordable ingots because they were virtually useless and the purple lion-thingy got my custom-made Excalibur and walking stick composed of multiple eyes, could you believe that? I tried to recreate them from memory during the voyage back to Aht Urhgan, but their designs are basic and hardly match the impeccable situationalness of my original posessions. Perhaps you have seen my trinkets somewhere?

Only the turtle is Aspid, the dragon is Fafnir, and the dog with horns is Behemoth.

Ghanraam : <playername>, you might be interested to know that my knowledge of ancient artifacts extends beyond what you can find locally in the ruins of Alzadaal. I was a bit of a traveler as a youth, and one of most memorable journeys was to the Middle Lands during the Crystal War. Perhaps you are familiar with the era.

Ghanraam : The Crystal War produced some of the most powerful weapons and armor for the age, as wars often do. I visited the Middle Lands as a young historian to conduct some independent research, and possibly add some articles to my gallery (ho ho ho!).

Ghanraam : During my travels, I had the opportunity to meet with some of the greatest leaders and bravest heroes of that great war, but most important of all was the equipment they wore into battle. Oh, such intricate patterns on the robes! Such shapely pauldrons and glorious crowns! And, please, don't get me started on the subligaria. I replicated each and every piece of equipment in painstaking detail into my notes. Every thread of fiber, every curve of steel and every band of mail was captured on those pages...

I want subligar with powerful stats, and intricate details on the groin area...

Square does kind of have a history of making some of the best gear in the game look like absolute crap, so you have to choose between good stats, and looking like an idiot.

Prime Example : Optical Hat. (It's not as great now, but don't knock it, you know your ass had your cluster sitting in your bazaar for those Friday Night shitfests down in Den of Rancor.)

I wonder if they ever added a pair of leg armor that had 10% haste on it, as opposed to Byakko's 5%, but they made it a pink subligar appearance, how many people would give up their dignity for it

I think that people are falling victim to their own unreasonable expectations. "We want weapons that sparkle out pink glitter and float on a cloud when they aren't in use." I want Galka g-strings with extra bulgy action, but I am not going to get my hopes up that it will ever happen.

Some expectations aren't so unreasonable...
