Solo exp with PL

Hey was just wondering if anyone has any info or links of sites that show areas that u CAN SOLO on ANY JOB either truly solo or with access to a PL (currently trying for Maat's cap and seeking pt is orz alot of the times lol

I'm sure there are lots of relatively non-lethal EP mobs (crabs, etc.) that most jobs could solo as /DNC or something, especially with Sigil/Signet and/or an NPC fellow. You might get bored with that pretty quickly. A lot of jobs can use the same pet guide that's on FFXIclopedia for BLMs, although some will find it difficult with no PL.

Or...since you want Maat's cap anyway, level BST to 66 first, then level as many jobs as you can /BST (your BST main needs to be at least as high as whatever job you are leveling /BST). Jobs that have ways of curing and/or sleeping (RDM, PLD, THF, etc.) work pretty well. I heard this works well with NIN too. Someone was doing it on DRK, but more for the challenge than anything I think. There's a BST guide on FFXIclopedia too.

Once you get up into the 50s, you can start doing Campaign Battle while LFG.

I don't like pickup exp much either, but I admit that I get around that via exp scrolls more than anything else. Various jobs can solo the CN escort, and you can solo Secrets of Ovens Lost once you've gotten to it (I guess some jobs could solo Spice Gals too, but it seems not worth it unless you're going up there for the ENM, Uninvited Guests, Bahamut, etc.) And of course, now there are Campaign Ops too, which can net you 2450 exp/week on jobs 10+ if you do Crimson Domino III...if it's available (hope you're not in a hurry).

A lot of people say all this is too slow, but it really depends. If you LFG for 2 hours, spend 45 minutes figuring out a camp and getting there, spend 2 hours exping but lose 20 minutes total of that to AFKs...that's not a lot of exp/hour. You can, of course, do other things during the LFG time, including most of the stuff above.

The one person in my LS with Maat's Cap (all jobs 75 now except DNC actually, which is 57) just forms permas with as many people from the LS as possible, and either exps in small groups (often on pets) or fills in the rest with pickup members. I've taken 3.5 jobs to 75 with her; sure wouldn't have so many to 75 if I'd had to do pickup parties.

Having a outside powerlevel is pretty good exp for when you can't get a party, even dualboxing an account which was only a 63 whm i could regularly pull in about 7-8k an hour up until around level 65 on samurai. Don't think it'd be very effective though for weak DD jobs though.

Since this topic now exists, and thus far I've been kinda oblivious as to the detrimental effects of getting resisted and running out of mp on BLM while soloing (level 18, I know I know, shut up.)

Is there anything I should know about soloing BLM off of pets? Any special strategy, where to start, when to start, etc. Best I have access to i a 75BLU/15WHM PL which isn't amazing, but I'll probably use it while I can. Right now I'm doing worms in Shakrami and rasp is killing my xp/hr.

I'm surprised you have to solo at that level. BLM invites shouldn't trail off till ToAU areas. I guess the 'BLM sucks at exp' mentality is trickling down to lower levels :3

I didn't start solo'ing on BLM till I could one-shot bats in newton with AM, so this advice isn't taken from personal experience and may be horribly wrong. Anyway I guess your best bet is pull with a nuke, sleep/bind, nuke again repeat till dead. I cant think of any other viable strategies, relying on bind/sleep sticking though is a bit worrying. With respect to when to start: no idea but I'd wait, Utsusemi would help alot before blink/SS but sounds like MP might be a issue so you might want to reconsider it.

I used this when I was leveling. Looking at it you might want to try Gigas' bat in lower delkfutts. We're on the same server Sath so /t Midgez if you want to ask anything else.

So I've kinda given up and am just going to solo to 75 / pick up parties with LS where I know I can get away with it.

Ah just bad luck then.

People moan about solo'ing BLM but I really enjoyed it. Slamming bats with AM is fun and easy (equip earth staff and run like hell if you get a resist) and then you spend most of your time in Aydeewa killing RNG Qiqrin which are pathetically easy because they just spam their pathetic /ra at you.

As for the resists nothing you can really do until you get AF/Staves, suck it up piling INT wherever you can. If you are going for solo I heard /NIN works nice up until Ele Staves.

I know this sounds weird, but the alla guide on their BLM forums is amazing for finding solo camps. The OP updates it when people post new camps on the thread (or at least he used to, not sure if he still does) so it's the most comprehensive guide I've seen. And most of the new camps people post are surprisingly workable, for suggestions made by Allakateers.

I soloed BLM from 18 to 37, and outside of the elemental pets, I only used sleep a few times (usually when the master caught me raping his pet). Up until 24, it's a matter of timing your pulls so you pull the pet cleanly, timing your casts so you don't get interrupted, and then resting after you heal up - that's it. Once you hit 24, /NIN makes it a lot easier, and from that point it's basically pulling with your strongest nuke and using whichever remaining nukes will wipe out the mob's HP without spending too much MP. Don't forget -ga spells, in the right camps they are great for keeping chains up. (Edit: I guess half of that info is pointless if you have a PL, though)

The only tip I can think of that isn't standard is to have a full stock of Tonko tools on-hand and to use them liberally. For some camps, I'd cast it every single time and rest safely in the middle of the action, it saves time and potential aggro-related headaches. It's not really necessary, but the peace of mind is worth the cost of the tools imo.

75 whm, 75 blm, 75 brd, 75 rdm, 75 nin but at least i got all the mage jobs 75 already lol and access to a 75 rdm and 75 whm PL!! ^^

i soloed blm from 21-73 just for the fact that i have a low tolerance for idiots, and lets face it ffxi has more than its share........

the alla guide is good, but also read soem of the thread too bc there are some nice alternate spots, there are times when it gets really slow(43-5k and hour) and times when it gets really fast(10-12k an hour) but i did it in all of about 3 months (though i took a hiatus from ls events and whatnot)

That was so helpful. I mean, they have such a comprehensive listing of places where people can solo XP- places with plenty of mobs that are safe from aggro and not spread out too far so you can easily chain.

You'll still meet idiots when you're soloing though, I met people who tried to camp over me, treating each repop like a little tiny Fafnir.

Well, I get fairly annoyed when I am trying to do something in the middle of nowhere (camp an NM, level my NPC, farm Kindred Seals, PL myself) and someone rolls up and tries to push me out of what I was doing. You would probably get annoyed too.

A lot of BLMs manage to use camp /seacoms, which is something I'd love to see brought back on a larger scale. Especially if you see a party in an area like Bhaflau or Caedarva and you have no idea which of the several camps they might be occupying.

I'm not sure how you meant this... Taking over anyone's camp is a dick move, period, but if you have a job that's much easier to XP on you're really taking the

Now if you meant that BLMs got pissed when you were there first just because "This camp is for BLM only omg!!!" then I can see where you're coming from, that's just pissy.

If you have a PL you can deal with most of the popular xp spots as a soloist from 20-45 on DD jobs by picking enemies that are EM-T (Qufim island at 25, Yuhtunga Jungle at 30, Altepa at 35 etc). I've finished off most of my DD subjobs solo with a 75 whm PL. The trick is to let the WHM tank with stoneskin and -dmg gear. They can usually get hate with a cure iv or two. Just bounce hate back and forth as needed to reapply stoneskin so that you don't kill the PL. If you had a 75 PLD or RDM as your PL you could probably do this past 45 as well. FFXI-Atlas is a pretty good guide for where to find T mobs if you don't want to find an open spot in the usual places, just try to avoid mob types that suck to xp on.
