The main point of my post was that food could be used to compensate for the difference between Minuet 4 and Madrigal.

    Re: BRD formulas.

So has anyone done any further testing? I've recently done some limited ones and I'm a bit suprised by some of my results. I've got a lot more to do, but the bordem is killing me. In short, so far my results have shown Singing Skill vs M.ACC vs CHR are at a 1 : 0.8 : 0.5 ratio, but I'm finding that full duration occurs more often with M.ACC - though I'm not comfortable with actually saying M.ACC > Sing Skill on duration just yet.

I'm also interested in any speculation toward how magic accuracy of spells relate to physical accuracy. For instance, Studio Gobli identifies that after 200 weapon skill, each additional point of skill increases accuracy by only .9 in the formula (or +.5% to +.45% Hit Rate), while accuracy remains a constant 1 point no matter how much of it you add. If similar logic is applied to magic (which I'm unsure of...) wouldn't that mean M.ACC > Skill at some point?

    Also...
BRD is obviously only one of the only jobs that uses two magic skills per spell (when using instruments). Obviously magic accuracy has to be calculated from those two skills in some way, either done simply via a cumulative total or by something imaginatvely more complex. M.ACC gear has to fit into the formula in some way, but not in such a way that makes it too powerful -- as many people who've used M.ACC gear have found that it isn't more or less noticably powerful as skill. To that end - M.ACC can't be a percentage of existing accuracy, nor can it be computed twice (one for singing accuracy and one for instrument accuracy), but can anyone else think of another way it could augment magical accuracy other than just by a fixed amount (ie: directly)?

Actually, V.March gives +0.1% more Haste for every 6-7 skill (http://bluegartr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27845). So it's good to stack skill for that. It seems that it should be possible to hit 11.9% Haste at 559 skill.
Blade Madrigal caps at +32 acc (with +2 instrument) at 472 skill. It isn't hard to test; you just need to compare the effect of Madrigal to +acc gear.

Actually, I'm not totally confident that it caps then. I only tested up to 488 skill when I calculated that, and I have 519 skill now; I should check again to make sure.

Basically if I understand this right then, at 579 (cap skill I think) you should be at 12.3~12.4%? I can get 570 skill right now, but unsure exactly how I would test the increase Vs. 559.

Magical Haste = ? I thought 50%, but read in that link it's 43.8%. If indeed Vic. March is 12.3% at 579 skill then adding both marches + soul voice would cap out Magical Haste without the need for Haste spell. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm 100% confident that you could have a melee party set up with attack gear and attack food and use madrigal on them and chain 200+ or whatever ridiculous number it would take to make a point. Madrigal is extremely potent. People just don't gear up with madrigal in mind because we're all sheep.
Madrigal has it's place, and sure you could swap Attack for Accuracy, but the amount of Accuracy your losing to gain the same amount of attack probably won't be as good as using Minuet. My Minuet IV gives 66 Attack, so in exchange for singing a Madrigal, a melee would need to be able to add in 66 attack, and Madrigal would need to make up for the amount of accuracy they lost. If your really curious on whether it's better, I'd like to see test results.
I think that if Madrigal is being sung it's playing second to Minuet IV, the only songs that will replace Madrigal are March or Minuet III, which gives 58 attack (with merits and instrument) so you don't have to replace 66attack) just thought I'd point that out.

an apoc drk in my old LS when meriting with 2 brds and getting minuet IV, marchx2, madrigal would wear a sniper's+1 and an Blitz Ring, just to capitalize on droping his delay as low as possible especially during last resort.

I'm leveling brd myself, and I've only had one party where I had to sing double minuet, so far: madrigal/minuet has held the steady winner for making my party kill faster (currently I'm lv50) and after lv50 is when enemy evasion tends to pick up and accuracy becomes more important, I've even had partys of sushi eaters, and just by eyeballing I can tell that madrigal/minuet still helps them more then minuetx2 (I've tried on occasions in some parties to see which is better as a personal experiment)

Madrigal is good d('-'*) no one caps accuracy on anything exp level unless they overkill accuracy equip, without having a buffer job.

    Re: BRD formulas.

I'm 75, occasionally merit, and do quite a few events but no kings. If I'm in melee party, usually one minuet is a given, and the other song is either march (most of the time), or madrigal (for stuff with really high evasion). Occasionally another song will take precedence, but only under very specialized circumstances and only for short periods of time (celestial avatars - carol; mobs with a very strong sleep move - aubade; boss mob with 100 fists and low acc - mambo on NIN tank; impending wipe - hymnus, lol). Whatever it takes to keep the party upright and functioning, really.

Must admit I've been in manaburn setups a lot recently though, and the rhythm there is totally different. Generally buff everyone, 2x Ballad on everyone at all times, Ltng. Threnody > Ice Threnody (or whatever weakness is desired) + elegy and sleep support. Then run like hell from Meteor/Astral Flow, heal up any partially-fried tarutaru, rinse and repeat.

    Re: BRD formulas.

Madrigal, from what I've seen at least, is for zerging DRKs with bard rotations (obviously 2 marches take precedence if you have only one bard or no party swapping), QQTH in arrapago rem, and merit parties with 3 dual wielders/mnks and 2 bards. Lately been trying it out a little bit on faf/nid but I'm not sure how effective it is because I'm not really up on melee stuff too much.

    Re: BRD formulas.

I'm no blockbuster melee by any means, but when I invite a brd to most merit parties I do, it's because I'd like minuet and madrigal (most of my usual merit buddies agree with me on these wants)

my thf gear is defiantly above average, but I'm not top notch yet, so I still enjoy that accuracy boost a brd can give me.
My general merit spot is on colibri, with rare occasions going to mamool, mamook or mire. Rarely I get into those x2 brd parties: minuet IV, marchx2, madrigal, it's a rush @_@;; attacking that fast and hard, it's alot of fun.

91dex, 292 dagger skill +30acc, so 357 accuracy (trying to number crunch this)
    17% haste, yadda-yadda

all I know is, I don't cap accuracy on exp mobs without sticking feint or getting madrigal, and my WS are a ton more consistant with madrigal

As an up in coming brd I guess I have a few questions: I've read some random stuff-
I guess I'm trying to figure out which is more important for landing debuffs (wind or singing, or are both equal)
I know having a decent CHR build goes along ways, I defiantly feel the same way of having some decent mnd to go with my white magic debuffs, skill isn't everything I know that much. It's just confusing to me when having to deal with 3 factors (CHR, singing, wind) vs 2 factors (MND and enfeebling)

Also when it comes to merits would would brd recommend for someone who can't devote all 16 merits to 8wind 8sing ? (I have 5 open magic slots I can give to brd)

If you wanted to use them towards BRD stuff, then going with Singing would be logical as it'd affect songs regardless of the type of instrument used.
However, meriting BRD skill isn't generally necessary in terms of landing songs. Unless you have nothing else you could benefit from in the category, might take that into consideration.
