More on-topic: Obliteration Techs are your best friend now, as you can take down even the largest mobs so far trivially once you knock one of their limbs off. Flying Swallow, however, is un-nerfed. You can just spam it non-stop, except on bosses. Bosses will rape you and then laugh in your face if you ever try it on them. I absolutely love this game so far though. Relentlessly difficult, and you can't just turtle up as much as the original. Keeps you constantly on the offensive and moving around. Mid-boss on level 2 reminded me of some of the challenges from the first Ninja Gaiden, too \:D/

This game is definitely not easier than the first. Whatever Itagaki said about toning down the difficulty, fuck it all to hell. Anyone on Path of the Acolyte finding its difficulty to be the same as NG1's standard difficulty?

I just beat it on easy lol, damn that was a blast. I'm not sure how it compares to NG1 since I've never really played it save for a short stint. The hardest boss for me was the first one surprisingly.

Anyone who's played 2, how does it compare to NGB and DMC4. I may have to grab those 2 games as well if they're as awesome.

NGB and DMC4 are definitely worth it. If they ever fix the camera issues like they did for the first Ninja Gaiden, NG2 would be perfect.

It's an evolution from the first NG, really. It's almost identical, in terms of gameplay, but just much, much faster and more fluid. In terms of presentation, i'm enjoying it much more than I did NGB since the difficulty feels much more linear once you figure out the tricks to each boss--NGB was an exercise in frustration since quite often end chapter bosses would wind up slaughtering you.


I'm also glad red orbs are more plentiful this time. NGB had them as an "oh shit" moment type thing, while in NG2 it feels like they're meant to be used often.

Anyway, this game is amazing, every aspect is better than the first and havent had an issue with the camera personaly, you can move it yourself.

i couldn't take it, had to go get this last night.

didn't get home until kind of late and i get up early, but i managed to rip through to chap 5 on PoW.

i'll disagree here - the diff level IS toned down from NG1/black/sigma, quite a bit imo. i've literally just run up to and slaughtered every boss so far except for the giant worm-like thing in the tunnels, and i'm on PoW. i'm not your average NG player and i realize that, but the new moves and combat alterations make ryu so powerful that if you can handle him... very few things so far have managed to slow me down.

Not out for a couple of days here, but I played through the demo a couple of times today. Damn easy I must say, but it forced you to play on Path of Acolyte and there's no boss fights. Hopefully PoW and not having beefed up weapons will make it a bit harder when it finally comes.

Yeah I was thinking about buying the game until I read this =/ If it's that easy and that short maybe I'll just get it and trade it back in this week or gf it. I've been really disappointed in console games lately anyway (lately being 2years lol) I just can't stick to them or keep my attention on them, I'll play some or half or 2/4 of it but never finish it. This game has to be amazing for me to buy it. Games lately are deterring me from wanting to get the mgs4/ps3 bundle.

it's an action game. not gonna be RPG-length no matter how you play. and i guarantee the poster who finished on easy didn't do much else since he got it.

thing with a game like this is, the real beauty of it is in the replay and the mastery. if you just want to rip through it on easy to check it out and see the story, just rent it and save yourself 50 bucks..

If it's just as difficult then the first then it's worth buying. However, you are saying there is alot of replay value... well, how much? What is the replay benefits exactly? Besides being able to tear through it again on harder mode most likely and maybe a costume change.

i can't speak as to the ultimate level of difficulty yet, haven't played for more than an hour or two. i don't believe itagaki would ease up on the harder modes though. more than likely, the hardest difficulty level will be impossible for many skilled gamers. so there's always that ultimate challenge.

however, even if you don't want to beat it on that level, the beauty of it is in refining your technique through playing until nothing can even hit you unless you lose concentration... until you can make sudden adjustments on the fly that result on 10 foes being decapitated in a single flurry.

as far as TANGIBLE rewards, yeah - idk for sure, but there'll at the very least be a few costume changes, difficulty levels and i even see a few ???s in the options menus... not to mention a good chance of DLC coming.
