Was there ever a fix to Avatar lag?

Pretty much what the title says. All of the new improvements to drivers to fix 8x00 cards, firaga, ballad, etc., yet I still like like fuck when there's avatars on my screen/around telepoints/in sea around ghrahs.

Was there some sort of fix for this or is this just another awesome feature of the, "nVidia, the way it's meant to be played" sticker on the box?

My ATI card always treated me nicely around avatars and telepoints, but I'm having the same problem you're having now with my nVidia card.

i have had this problem with both nvidia and ati cards far as i know theres no fix for telpoint and as for avatar that ive never had 75smn and never gotten lag from my avatars no clue whats cuasing this for u

all i can say is try the 169.17 drivers may or may not help

I have this problem as well. Pretty much anything that glows (avatars, telepoints, certain job abilities, even the glowing things in crawler's nest) lags me down to 10-20fps, other than that I run at 29.4fps on everything else. I've researched around and found no answers. Even this guy has the same problem: http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/viewt...9&hilit=2600xt So I'm thinking about upgrading to a new card.

Oh btw, I'm using an ATI HD2600xt on vista. I'm thinking of getting the HD3870, does anyone here run this card on vista? I just wanna make sure I don't buy a new card and end up with the same problem.

I went back to XP and it fixed every problem I was having with FFXI.

Oh well, guess I'll stick with XP until FFXI is no more.

I have this problem, and I've had it on 4 separate computers, 4 separate graphics cards, three of the PCs were running XP, the last one is Vista. I mostly just ignore it. *shrug*
