generals was awesome but i think i enjoyed RA2 better - waiting for this for sure.
it looks good and if it operates on the same mechanics that generals and ra2 did then it should be pretty hype
i hope they dont go to over board with the special moves and what not
CC3 sucked![]()
I picked up CC3 a few months ago and played through the story, enjoyed it decently but not as much as RA2. Why the hate though, out of curiosity?
Hell March 3 or GTFO!
Looking forward to this, can't say theres been a bad C&C in my eyes, except Renegade, but hopefully Tiberium will be more appealing when its released
I have beta and its meh at best. I was also surprised it used a different engine than CC3, which is a damn good one imo. It reminds me to much of StarCraft, but maybe that's a good thing for some people.
Loved the old red alerts, kinda fell out playing it when it started going all gdi/nod shit it got all boring;x hopefully this will bring back the old feeling,
Dude I cannot tell you how stoked I am, I mean srly it's been so long. Recently someone got a me an autograph of the chick Natasha I <3 RA2 :D
So I happened to notice no one is talking about Red Alert 3.. Which is blasphemous. Red Alert 2 was phenomenal.
I just bought it and am installing it now. Anyone else get it?
Going to download it soon.
Yep just got it. Only played a few missions to start out, and am a little dissapointed at the bit to "cartoonish" look to the game, I liked C&C3 TW with the high graphics. Hopefully online play will make up for it.
RA2 is what helped me pass web design and computer programming. after we finished our work for the day he'd let us play RA2 the rest of the block. It was an awesome incentive.
I'm really want to get RA3, but I can hardly afford gas to put in my car atm.![]()
It looks good, but I'm not sure I'll buy it right away. I was in the Beta for it and have already experienced a good deal of it. I dont think the 1P will be much fun but the online might make up for it, I was having a real hard time getting used to it compared to RA2/C&C3. The only thing I can say is screw Tesla Coils at the entrance, put them at the back of your base, just about everything is amphibious.
Mmmm, talking about this makes me want to go play RA2...
I was in the beta and I played it a grand total of 3-4 times because I couldn't find a game where someone wouldn't fucking leave others alone to get a grasp of the new mechanics. All I remember is that damn near everything is amphibious and you can set up a base anywhere. Very convenient for a turtler like myself. Set up a decoy base and hide one in the back that's stupidly defended while m enemy picks at my forward base. [Or set up against the map wall so I can't get hit from behind. I always hated it when I stopped paying attention in C&C3 on maps with water completely around the usable map area and I'ld get raped from a venom or, uhh, that new GDI helicopter that came with Kane's Wrath.]
Anyway, it looks interesting, but I really hate the art style. I loved how... depressive C&C3 looked. Most of the maps looked like it was the end of the world in red/yellow zones, and that helped to set the tone for the game. I wasn't into C&C [Non-RA] prior to C&C3 and the decent acting, decent story, and excellent setting/tone sold the story overall to me. I know RA3, and by extension all of Red Alert, has a rather... "colorful" story, so maybe the art style is set from the tone, idk. I still think the game looks like "My first C&C" with extremely high HDR settings and pixel shading.
Either way, I'll probably just download the game and play through it. I was pretty 'meh' until I saw the guy that played Elliot Carver from Tomorrow Never Dies was an allied commander. I like his acting a lot [Tomorrow never dies is my favorite bond film], and it went from meh to something I'll play.
If it turns out good, I'll pay money for it. I think EA could've ruined C&C3, but I liked it overall. [I also had lots of fun with Generals too.] So EA built my confidence in them up quite a bit. The last few C&C products I've really enjoyed [Despite glitches, etc.] So I'm trying to keep a positive mind heading into it.
This version doesn't have the rootkit version of SecuROM, does it? Just normal disc-based auth since there's online play to tie a key to?
Been looking at picking this up for 2 days now, how cheesy are the FMVs?
Part of the Red Alert charm was the hammy acting, wonder if it's still there.
Seen a few videos and looks a bit forced. (The hammyness, not the acting)
I was afraid to post anything. going to pick it up today. i think. Gamestop called me and told me it was in. Hello beta to next c&c game
Except GDI/NOD were first. In fact, RA plays into the Tiberium universe. Kane is seen in the original red alert series as an adviser to Stalin and if and when they tie them together in a much closer manner. I look froward to the mac release of RA3, or I'm just going to have to load up a copy of windows and play me some CC3/KW/RA3. Also, Hell March 3 ftw.
Also, KANE LIVES!
Or, rather FOR THE MOTHERLAND!
anyone else have little pauses in the game between screens like campaign modes to coop and then back to main menu
it also seems to happen right at the start where it gives u the first popup box telling u how to get online by clicking the star...
it seems like its crashing but if u give it literally a minute it will work
very strange
