It seems that this separation has alot to do with there being prominent Albanian forces in Kosovo. Not surprising Kosovo was forcebly annexed to Albania twice during the World Wars. Now, i'm not sure whether to side with Kosovo or Sebia on the matter, seeing as how Kosovo wasn't some contry that was forcebly annexed to Serbia, but actually the other way around. If i were keen on conspiracy theories, i'd go as far as to say that Albania was infiltrating the place in order to take over it eventually. It is also a problem for many countries to just outright support Kosovo in this matter, because it would be like greenlighting any other attempts at independence from a state or territory.

I'd really like to hear the reasons why Kosovo chose independence though. But with the information i have, Kosovo isn't exactly comparable to a mistreated colony or some marginalized state of some sort. Albeit the fact that it is largely Albanian might be cause to create some serious cultural rifts between the two, even though i have not personaly heard of independence being brought about by cultural differences.
