I was hoping we would see Shanks crew fight a bit to see his or their abilities. Oh well. I wonder if we will get the time skip (I remember reading it somewhere) after the break.

Great chapter. Did anyone else laugh when the panel of Moira just popped up out of nowhere? Death and sadness everywhere, then that dude. Got a good lol from it.

Looks like Boa will be sticking around with Luffy, possible chance for some Haki training? Hopefully. I also remember reading there is a time skip, or something similar. The correct wording was something like "Luffy is 17 or 18, there will be a chapter when he is no longer than age." People read into it as a time skip, or it could just be his birthday. Either way, there's a lot to catch up on. Gathering the crew back, mourning for Ace, etc. Wondering how Luffy will be when everything is said and done. Not hoping for a complete change, as his personality makes this manga, but there will probably be a chapter dedicated to Ace and Luffys growth/reflection on it.

Also fucking break. Oda goes on a break every other month.

I'm betting on a reunion finally of the Strawhat pirates. I really hope Oda doesn't troll us with any major changes to characters. Like Sanji for example, he had better not come back a queer.

Kind of disappointing chapter, the break next week just makes it worse. Wish we could actually see WHY Shanks is so awesome(I know he used to swordfight or whatever with Hawkeye when he had two arms, but what about now? Shanks is one of my favorite characters regardless.). Hoping for a timeskip.

I don't understand why people wanted to see Shank fight. This arc has lasted long enough, and there is 500 more chapters to see everyone ability. I don't need to see every damn character fight every time

I enjoyed this chapter in overall. The first few pages were as good as I anticipated, and it's nice to see that everyone has some respect for Shank (Sengoku's reaction surprised me).



Also, in before the time skip. Watch Luffy come back with a pirate beard and eyepatch!

And really, considering they've had their island destroyed, and that Shanks is coming from a "fight" with another of the yonkou looking completely unhurt only a day later, I think it's in the marines' and blackbeard's best interest to gtfo lol They did get ace and whitebeard, which is gonna mess up all sorts of things already after all

Didn't want to see a fight either. It's just...he hasn't really shown anything amazing (other than the swordfight stuff and haki, of course) and everyone shits their pants when they see him. Just something like "Oh no, I hope Shanks doesn't use his ________ or we're fucked!" would make me happy.

Definitely ready for this arc to end, it feels like it's been going forever.

I think the point of this chapter was that everyone respect Shank, even the marine. They don't fear him, they simply don't want to go against him because he isn't a bad person. That itself is much more interesting than "oh no, another scary pirate, let's stop fighting".

It's the same deal as Luffy, and probably most people who have the king power.

I finally got caught up on One Piece. From the beginning of Skypedia(which is probably most boring part of manga, but later-Skypedia is good) to the current chapter. I got to say One Piece is certainly the best of the three big shonen jump mangas. It doesn't let itself get dull by shoving constant thrills and shocks into every couple chapters(or to be more honest for Bleach: every chapter). I mean the current arc was the cultivation of the entire manga's hype building, which itself is longer than either of the other two. One Piece's best quality is the strong sense of adventure and the world building based around it. Something that is very lacking in the other two.

Also pretty happy Crocodile, my favorite character, didn't just swept under the rug(lol, get it?!).


EDIT: I often hear people complain about pacing... I believe half of the complaining comes from the fact they are reading 15 or so pages every week.

It obviously has something to do with the "15 pages a week", but even then, you can always compare it to what you get every week from other manga. Not that I think it's an issue for OP, since they usually have a lot of text.

My issue is not only having 15 pages sometimes, but when half of those are spreads the chapter is just way too short. They did that way too often this arc and it was pretty annoying.

Sure did/do. Yu Yu Hakusho was one of my gateway animes, aside from the regular ole DBZ and such. I wasn't as into HxH as One Piece though. Maybe before the Chimera arc..

Side question: any news on the the OP movie Strong World DVD release? Doubt theres a subbed copy out anywhere, but if someone has any info on it that would be nice.

So I was catching up on the One piece anime and Ivan mentioned that he knew Crocodiles weakness and past, did they ever touch up on this in the manga? It's been awhile and I forget reading it.
