With this flashback, the crew needing to get back together, and seemingly all the jobs taken I'd say this is the end of the SH crew growing. The only possibility I can think of is Jimbei joining but like Hancock it would unbalance the whole team. So I guess this will be the last tearful flashback we'll see (SH all have a sad story I doubt this flashback won't have something, even if Luffy already has Shanks' arm).

I find it funny that Garp goes on about them being marines then leaves them to be raised by criminals, that he blackmailed into babysitting.

Doubt Garp would be able to threaten a Yonkou like that, even if they were weak back then and got stronger she didn't seem like the type (see the other yonkou: WB, Shanks, They're not the type to be pushed around).

I'm betting they know haki and Luffy is going to remember what they taught him like Zoro and cutting steel.

And I like One Piece flashbacks personally, bonus points for being about luffy. Bout time we learned a little more about what went on to make him the way he is, what with him being the main character and all.

the coverstory is Dr. Hogback

Dadan makes Luffy do errands
Ace apparantly goes off somewhere everyday
Luffy tries to follow Ace one day
Ace comes back home, Luffy comes back a week later beat up

Luffy continues to try following Ace until one day he does
He arrives at the Grey terminal, a junkyard
Ace and another kid named Sabo (has been mentioned before) are saving money to become pirates
They tie Luffy to a tree and contemplate killing him but can't so they leave him

The large man Sabo and Ace stole money from shows up
Luffy ends up revealing he knows about the money and is taken away by the man

Expected a better backstory for Luffy, seems to much like Bibi's story. I guess it'll get better as it goes.

I'm betting Sabo is going to die. Not right away though, first they'll rescue Luffy and all become friends. Then we'll get them connecting with the Dadans before finally some trgic event kills Sabo (hopefully not a staircase). Ace will take Sabo's hat and him and Luffy will make some promise that Ace has failed to keep by dying and now Luffy must carry on.

I enjoyed this chapter. I've no clue where it's going, but it was a fun read. Chibi luffy is awesome.

I'm just too interested in what's going to happen in the present to get too excited for the past. That's probably what makes the flashback seem boring.

Yeah the anime is looking better each week. The way I figure it the current manga arc will be 2 more chapters and during that time the anime will be out of ID and it will be exciting there at least.
