Holy crap, too much awesomeness was contained in a single chapter. I love howOda isnt scared to let us fill the gap when there is a lot of shit going on. That single chapter had more contents than 30 chapters of many manga.

My favorite thing about the series right now is how he's using the supernova to explore the new world since it'll be a while till the SH crew is involved with it.

Agreed with above its nice to get some more story with the supernova before ofcourse they turn in to enemys to the strawhat crew, or possible allies i guess.

Not only that, it gives him narrative space to show how much the world has changed without Luffy + crew having to meet the Mayor of Plot Exposition Town every time they change locales, something that can really rust up a WSJ series. Instead of flashbacks or some 'oh yeah this relates to Blackbeard somehow' involved in every single arc he can just write concurrent stories about the more interesting events in the new world (Capone's UFO abduction is the most interesting to me, personally) without necessarily having to ram it into how relevant it is to the Strawhats

I think I figured out the message.

It's not so much the picture, but rather it says that he is with Rayleigh and to follow the card instead of going to Shabondy. Also he might be pointing to a vivre card in his hat but maybe not.

They said why in the chapter. Every year the marines ring it 8 times for the last year and 8 more times for good luck on the new year. Him ringing it 16 times means the coming of a new age or something.
