Oh, fosho, and that's why I loved the last arc so much. Trust me, I'm not complaining at all, but I'm fully expecting a half-grizzled Luffy and co. when this timeskip finishes.

It'll be like Enzo turning into Matrix or some shit out of Reboot. I can't wait.

I think we'll have some good lighthearted stuff soon enough. The crew getting back to together hi-jinks will ensue. I doubt Luffy will ever have his happy spirit broken but I think he'll definitely get serious as he always has when it counts. He knows Ace would hate him if he turned all fucking emo.

zoro is indeed asking mihawk to train him. mihawk at first laughs at him and tells him that he's ridiculous for asking his enemy to train him. he says it's embarassing, and that zoro shoudl just leave instead of crawling back to him, unable to defeat the monkeys and unable to go to sea. zoro says he took care of the monkeys, which shocks mihawk. zoro says he wants to get stronger, mihawk understands that someone with as much pride as zoro would only do something like that to get stronger for someone else, agrees and tells the ghost girl to attend to zoro's wounds. Zoro and perona are obv explaining the meaning of the message. luffy is taken to an island where the season changes every week, apparently training with rayleigh himself. jimbei leaves. says he'll see luffy and his crew again in 2 years. some exchanges between rayleigh and boa for comic relief. she says she'll bring luffy food every day, but rayleigh says no. luffy on the last page says hold on i need to put this away, walks over to a tree which he confirms with rayleigh to be the only safe place on the island, and says that he's quitting his "mugiwara pirate luffy" name for a while, leaves the vivre card and hat there, and goes to train with rayleigh. rayleigh makes jokes about what to call him, sensei, shishou, etc, but luffy just calls him rayleigh.

the third haki (haoushoku) has to do with "iatsu" which is basically to overwhelm your enemy.

the busoushoku is explained as the one that can hit logia types. it's explained as one of the only defenses against the devil fruit types, especially the logia users. ha-oushoku just seems to be the one that can make things feint.

yes, ray can use all three haki, and he says he will train luffy in the basics of the three to extend his strength much more. 2 years isn't really long enough but it'll have to do -- sort of thing.

3D2Y (luffy's tattoo) is not related to the bells. its explained that it was basically just a distraction (it being the bells) the 3D refers to "the place" that they were all supposed to meet at in 3 days, crossed out, and instead 2Y, will meet there in 2 years. they are meeting back at shabondy in 2 years.

for speculation: i don't think luffy will ever lose the carefree, unpredictable attitude or lifestyle. roger had it all the way until he was killed. he'll just be more like roger/shanks.

Anyway, am I the only one who is annoyed by the Haki? I always thought it was comming out of nowhere for something that every famous person in the world is using. It should have been common knowledge since the begining of the manga imo. Also, I dont think it needed such a detailled explanation..something that specific kill the mystery around it.

They introduced Haki in the first or second chapter, when Shanks scared away the Sea Dragon that bit off his arm.

Yes you probably are, I am more tired of logia=prefect defense.

And also it is in the 1st chapter, mantra was on sky island, Shanks used it again when he came aboard Whitebeard's ship after Enies lobby. Haki has been a long time coming, and isn't "out of no where." Also the series has show that the general public and low level pirates really don't understands whats really going on in the world, ex pirates of Jaya laughing at the laughing at sky island. It makes sense that it is not common knowledge outside of the New World.

I dunno, Haki is the only "omg powerup" I really enjoy out of the "big 3" series. To me, nothing seems broken about it, because it almost feels like a human using the rest of their brain. If people could figure out how to tap into everything we have as humans, yeah, it wouldn't be surprising to discover abilities like haki.

I'd consider logia powers far more annoying than haki. Imagine if there was no haki in the show, yet Akainu still had his logia. How the fuck would anyone beat him? You can't even just throw a bucket of sea water on him, or shoot him with a hose, because his magma would just evaporate the water before it arrived. He'd be functionally invincible, and with his asshole personality (as much as I like his character design, I cannot respect him yet), nothing would stop him in the show. It'd be some tom and jerry-equse run-away fest where the heroes have to continuously dodge the overpowered villain, which would of course make the villain look like an idiot.

Haki is the only thing keeping logia users from being an army of Aizens. Considering the main character isn't a logia user, you just knew something had to exist for him to stand a chance, even if you missed the foreshadowing.

The knocking people out thing would be overpowered if it worked on anyone, but it only works on people who don't stand a chance. The mantra part kind of pushes things, but it works out if all the strong people can do it I guess.

Well to be fair the logia already had a weakness; Enel was useless against insulators, Croc was weak to water, Ace to things hotter than himself.

I'm guessing as there are three parts to haki each of the monster trio will be best at one of them with Luffy being able to knock out people as his best skill. Guessing Sanji would be best at mantra and Zoro armament.
