Nearly everyone come back one way or the other. They will rarely play huge role, but it's always enough to make them feel useful.

It's around 75/25. If you were to look at the East Blue Arc (the start until grand line), most of the villains come back, but some completely vanish.

Also, I recommend the manga. The anime is amazing in its own right, but the manga definitely has the edge.

Also, I know it's early, but there seems to be more separation happening between Sanji and Zoro. Also seems like most of the big crews have a really strong number 1 and 2 and then a bigger gap to the rest of the crew.

Zoro has always had the better relationship with Luffy too. Sanji/Zoro is just comic relief, Zoro has the win for sure.

after a while the anime reallllllly starts dragging unless you skip like the first 6 minutes of every episode because of intro/recap shenanigans, but you can't really lose with either overall

The anime is probably 10-15 chapters ahead the manga, you will have to watch the whole thing.

You should skip filler episodes posted by Vandole, but the anime also had many length in canon episodes that are hard to avoid. If you don't mind them..go ahead and watch, but I had low tolerence for this.

if anything one piece has the best fillers compared to naruto or bleach, i quite enjoyed them to be honest.

it's not like there are a lot of fillers, Davy Back Arc, breaking into the marine base after Skypeia and the one where they fought the bounty hunter family where the dad has the lava devil's fruit. Those are the major fillers and then there are like 4-5 fillers that are only like 2-3 episodes long. That's not that many fillers for an anime with 470 episodes
