As much as I'd like to see a massive fight, I just wanna see luffy beat the hell out of this guy. Any 'just as planned' from Hodi is going to come off as an Aizenesque (*) writing, and I'd hate for that at this point. There is so much momentum from the last arc, and the setup for the plot for this arc has dragged that down s much I'd really, REALLY hate to have a 'not this shit again' moment.

(*)Is it to early to use this? I know it's general poor villian writing, and not limited to Aizen but it was done so much and for so long it encapsulates the general jyst of that a little to well.

Ya there's no "just as planned" enemy in One Piece at least not to the stupid level Aizen was. Maybe Don Flamingo but even then he seems more like the let the chips fall as they will. He just seems to make sure he ends up on the winning side.

But yeah, this arc is going to end with an epic beatdown by luffy's crew, followed by hodi eating too many pills and destroying himself and the island..or something along these line (might be the giant boat too). It would be a terrible storywise to make them struggle after a timeskip/training.

Arguably the two baddies in OP with the most elaborate plans were Crocodile and Blackbeard (the representatives of the World Government notwithstanding), and the mysteries behind each are few and far between. All the rest had some otherwise easy-to-understand plans with obvious points of execution in between. It's this single characteristic of OP's villains that lets Oda pick them up, drop them and re-introduce them at will. It doesn't even make them one-dimensional, look at how amazing Crocodile/Buggy were in the Marinford arc. Simple villains with simple plans, so Luffy can solve everything with a giant, oversized fist. That's the OP formula and daggunit I don't want that to change, ever. Aizen/Light Yagami/Lelouch Lamperouge style Xanatos Gambit pileups can go rot in a ditch.

I can't really see Vegapunk as that evil. The bit of backstory we got didn't make him that bad. He probably went to the WG to give him the resources he wants. He just has to do what they tell him at times. I mean, he did do the Kuma thing too.

My bad, I used the wrong cliche when describing what I fear will happen because I think Hodi is a shitty villain with a gimick that has the potential to get drawn out and annoying. He may not bust out the "I expcted this to happen", but he almost certainly will use the "I can't believe you're forcing me to use this" line before he powers up to level 3 and then burns himself out. In my defence, the villian being a smug prick before beng forced t fight at full power is so overdone that I pretty much associate them hand in hand now.

Having said that, I would be very satisfied if luffy just beats the crap out of him and the rest of the arc focuses on the Impending doom from the ship Van Decker thew. I just want a little more exposition on the current state of things, and we're not going to get that with the story focusing on 3rd tier villians / mary sue's.

Agree with Zoro. I can totally see Sanji taking some more from CP9 though and basically being the Straw Hat CP9 dude, I think he fits the system/look well. Franky + Co. with the tank was excellent and very OP.
