Spoiler: show
Fan Disservice: Kokoro splash page
Fan "Service"(?): Gomu Gomu no bondadge on Nami.
I'll take it.
Ah shit what have I done, I read OP first this week. I usually leave it as 'dessert' in case the other week's releases disappoint.
I actually do the opposite, I read OP first knowing I'll likely enjoy it most, picks my spirits up. Of course, I think I liked Naruto more this week. And of course there was no Bleach so it had to be a good week for WSJ!
Am I just forgetting about earlier occurrences or is Luffy doing more "Mr. Fantastic" type stuff now? Gomu gomu no bondage on Nami, wrapping his arm around Shirahoshi's pinky, etc. I think the anime showed him do some of that stuff in like real early stuff (row-boat days lol) but first time I'm noticing it in the manga.
He's used his hands as a gigantic slingshot/webbed net but this is the first time I can remember him doing the whole Plastic Man routine.
Maybe its because of the training? Before he hasn't had to do anything other than punch/kick to stretch.
2nd and 3rd gears where interesting takes on his ability because it implied that he could only stretch when he applied force to generate the 'pull'. He's always acted like a stretch armstrong doll - pull as hard as you want, always snaps back to original form. I'd have to go watch, but I think the Anime played it the same way, they wouldn't show him stretching for a long ways but bending an arm or leg in an impossible fashion. If he can stretch 'gently' or force his body to go limp now it opens up some interesting new opportunities.
If you look back at some of the fights this arc you'll see him using what seems to be a new mastery of his fruit. When he was punching Hodi he prepares for the punch but instead of the usual shooting back of his arm it seems to squiggle and stretch behind him without speedlines suggesting he is doing something new. He does something similar in his new snake shot move, which I think we just see shooting foward in a squiggle without him needing to pull back his arm.
Just chiming back in to say thanks for the help with subgroups/stuff. I'm finishing up the thriller bark arc right now. Ended up using these groups for these episodes.
001-298 [K-F]
294-342 [Vegapunk]
343-363 [Vanillapunk]
364-417 [N-F]
So far the quality and translation has been great. A few minor minor errors in late vanillapunk and early N-F episodes, but I don't mind it. Probably going to use Yibis for the rest of the episodes. Too bad school is starting tomorrow so I won't have enough free time to watch ~25 episodes every day.
Absolutely loved gear second and the cp9 arc.
It hooked me in with Nami's arc and Arlong, and gradually took big steps, and at points leaps, in catching my interests with certain arcs, like Chopper's arc, Alabasta, Water 9 and Ines Lobby, and Thriller Bark.
Arlong made it a good arc, Alabaster/Croc arc made it fucking awesome. Then it lulled a bit till CP9.
This exact moment for me too actually, haha. Took the series from "haha, kids manga about pirates and following your dreams and blah blah" to "...whoa, maybe not so simple"
The first Zoro vs Mihawk added some of that too, especially after Zoro got cut down and pledged not to lose again. But the impact, while strong, wasn't as strong
Edit: Okay, that new preview for the game pretty much solidifies making the game a day-1 buy for me should it come to NA, which it better.
That second trailer omg. Need to rewatch one piece no gah >.< Hopefully the game comes out with jap dub and eng sub that would just be so perfect.
I know i'm nitpicking now but choppers monster point looks too small. I wonder if they're gonna bother with fighting the giants and such.
