In some somewhat positive news, Bandai copyrighted the name of the new One Piece game in NA, meaning there's a strong likelihood that it'll get released here.

Edit: Scratch my previous comment. The last scanlator group for One Piece that I knew of before Mangastream kicked the bucket some time ago

Dude, it's Viz Media. The dinosaur of manga publishing in America and they do not give a fuck. They want a dollar per fucking chapter of a 560 chapter manga in digital form. That's more expensive than the print version. You want to make a list of companies that doesn't get the digital age? Make sure you leave room for Viz Media near the top. It's weird how the anime license for the exact same IP is handled in such a drastically different manner than the print license.

Wait. Viz sells the chapters at $1 a pop? That's freaking good. Are they up to date?

I don't see any issue with spending a measly 1-2 dollars a WEEK to support your favourite manga's, especially if its a lot more convenient then waiting 1-3 days for a third party to scanlate it for free. If they did some kind of unlimited manga w/ subscription based model like crunchyroll, that would be cool too.

They're 3 weeks behind at best and from what I've read the quality doesn't match scantilations. Also, they do not bundle older content/arcs, so those 550 issues? They expect you to spend 550$ before tax.

I wouldn't mind throwing 1$ a week for OP. Hell, I wouldn't mind dropping (at some point in the future) 200$ on all the back issues if it supported the strip. 500+?

Digital versions should not cost more than the print versions, no matter what.

I don't mind paying $1 a week if I got the scans Wed morning like I normally do. I don't think most of the (what I assume are) adults here with jobs (like myself) would really be at a loss for that. Viz's mistake is that a) their scans suck ass b) it's about 3+ weeks slower than what we normally get. Even if they released scans on Friday/Sat, a lot of people would still find 3rd party scanlators.

Meanwhile, Funimation manages to sub an episode of One Piece about 10-30 minutes after it fucking airs in Japan. WHY ISN'T EVERYONE DOING THIS.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain a bunch of animes like One Piece or Gintama or mostly shows on Crunchyroll are Simulcast during the Japanese airing with subs on the web, the catch being you have to pay a subscription fee to watch the simulcast, otherwise Crunchyroll puts it up a week later with ads in it like Hulu does.

Edit: One Piece is simulcast on Funimation's site. Crunchyroll does a bunch too for other shows

With that summary all that's really needed are the scans - you can find good inforamation on the onemanga forums still. Hell, even some horribly watermarked scans.
