This is lacking fights, and I mean 2 -3 chapter fights from Zoro and Sanji, this feels snail pace (like fishman island) compared to other arcs.

So... Vergo and Smoker at the beginning of this chapter, Vergo and Law last chapter, Brook and that Samurai doode vs the Dragon 2 chapters ago, Luffy vs Caesar and Sanji vs Vergo the chapter before that, Vergo fucking up the G5 marines the chapter before that. And then the chapter before that, there was action but not an actual 1 on 1 fight.

So I guess you're right, besides the last 5 chapters of fights, and all the random action we've had dispersed throughout the arc thus far, which has been a lot including starting the arc off by fighting a giant dragon, this arc has been a very boring, boring story arc.

Hoping this shit picks up already. Or at least focus on Luffy because he is always entertaining.

Oh you mean all of 10 panels worth of fight? (this coming from the series having full chapters of fight)

P.S. 10 panels per fight on average.

    Keep on posting pictures though.

I can't... I can't even decide how to argue back. Do I mock your crappy grammar? Your terrible standards for the manga that has been pretty much written the same way for the longest time? You having to explain that you mean 10 panels on average? I... I just don't know, lol.

EVERY arc has been like this since basically Drum Island. Lots of little fights with story build-up throughout the chapters, with the climax of the arc being the SH's having individual/team fights against someone, overcoming some adversity or disadvantage or weakness, finishing with Luffy having a BIG fight lasting a few chapters with him finishing off the main baddie with some new, fantastical move. The formula hasn't changed at all. Even Mermaid Island, despite being overpowered as fuck, Luffy still got the shit kicked out of him and resulted in him introducing his Gigant-Gattling to finally finish off the roid-raging Hordy.

The fights are fantastic but what makes the manga great is the storytelling which is what Oda is doing now, which is what you're complaining about, which is why I posted Sengoku facepalming, which is what I feel pretty much every time I see you post in this thread. /sigh

As much as I love Oda, the formula's gotten stale.

It's worse now that they've spent 2 years and powered up. Before the arc's dragged on a bit but never too much. The exposition and little fights on the side were worth it.

Now it feels like the events have been planned out specifically to drag the fights on. This is Impel Down all over again, but instead of wanting Luffy to escape and help Ace I just want to see Luffy curb stomp someone. I'm hoping that fight will be Luffy Vs Caesar with Virgo as the true boss. Getting there is turning out to be slow and tedious, and the longer its drawn out the more of a let down the fight could be. I'd like to see someone who's evenly matched with Luffy requiring him to depend on the Nakama like on Thriller Bark instead of the constant Worf Effect that villians seem to have on Luffy.

    Edit: Cleaned up middle paragraph.

See, that's a perfectly valid argument that I can understand and agree with.

The time-skip was a double-edged sword of sorts. Luffy and co. got powered up and fans, including myself, love seeing him being overpowered and curb-stomping baddies. The counter to that though is that now the baddies have to have some sort of plot device to help them even out the playing field, where as before, they were just stronger and required Luffy in turn to get stronger too. Hordy roided up vs Luffy on land or surrounded by air is an easy victory for Luffy, but underwater, Luffy gets weakened and is limited, thus making it a more even fight. Caesar had beaten Luffy earlier on because Luffy had no idea what his DF power was. Now that he knows, he should be able to face him, and he was about to if Monet hadn't stepped in.

Edit: Of course, we're only 2 arcs in and haven't explored the New World much at all, so for all we know, there could and probably will be much stronger foes ahead. I think that might be the big flaw of post time-skip so far. Luffy has been pushed too quickly to a "I've trained 2 years and won't let anyone die"-near-death-state, and we haven't even gotten into the meat of the New World yet.

It's like people have already forgotten that this arc is the launching pad for the takedown of Doflamingo, a character we've only just barely seen throughout OP but is already shaping up to be at least as fearsome as anything the Strawhats have ever battled.

Why the hell are we arguing about all of this? Fishman island was a little weak but since when does Oda dissapoint? Especially with the Doflamingo and Big Mam stuff coming up.

It's not only Doflamingo that this arc has implications for, it's also the WG officials behind him, and depending on how much truth there is behind Caesar's claim to having Akainu's interests, the Marine upper management too.

And there's the epic Caesar faces, which for me have put this arc on par with Ennies Lobby/WC7/Thriller Bark.

I wouldn't really call it an argument, but more of a... heated discussion? (...I did use the word argue earlier, didn't I?) I've been enjoying Punk Hazard a lot so far myself

I liked this chapter. A lot of talking but in a good way. Didn't think the yuki yuki fruit was a Logia.. that's interesting.

So far logia have always been a purely elemental type, able to dissociate from their usual physical form. I was surprised when Ceasar referred to Magellan as a parmecia, but then he wasn't able to "de-solidify", he had to tank Luffys attacks. Monet doesn't seem as typical as the logia we've seen so far, much less then Magellan anyway.

Thinking about it, now would be a good time to introduce an artificial hybrid, given the nature of the work done at Punk Hazard.
