I agree. Not to mention all the hype Doffy has been kind of sneaking in for some time now since his first appearance, adding in him making easy work out of Law, another shichibukai, and just being a beast of a final-boss for this story arc. Now is a good a time as any to pull out a typical Shonen power up.
Also, this the second last shichibukai left, right? I guess not including Buggy (who I doubt Luffy would ever fight), you got Law, Doffy, Kuma, Hancock, Mihawk and a mystery 7th shichibukai. The story arcs should be moving on to facing the Yonko after this I would imagine.
I have something to live for, guess I'll have to wait a while longer before jumping off a cliff.
Oh I wasn't complaining about the power up being out of character or anything. I was making note of Luffy's dialogue being far more planned out and, uhh...self-aware? than usual. He's like 99% carefree and 1% pissed off, and this was a more...adult pissed off. I dunno, hard to explain, it just didn't quite feel/sound like Luffy.
Ohhh, I see I see. My bad, I was distracted by hockey related things and didn't read your post properly
So when is the next issue of OP? Next week? The first week of May?
I ~thiiiink~ it's chapter this week, actual golden week next week, and then back to 3 chapters in 4 weeks after that. I could be wrong though but I do think we at least get a chapter this week
And YOU get a Golden Week! And YOU get a Golden Week!
soon boys
spoilers are out
gear 4 is.....strange...
It... certainly is. But I kind of like it
If anyone wants a spoiler of what it's like, it's sort of like these things mixed together:
Spoiler: show
It's definitely growing on me the more I check it out
Spoiler: show
Okay, these new attack names are badass. Gum Gum Calvary Cannon. I can get behind that shit right there, especially when Luffy looks like Hard Man from Megaman firing hard knuckles everywhere.
I'm down with Gear Fourth, he's working Doffy over pretty hard. Of course we all know it won't be that easy, but it's fun to see. Vaspinne, that description of Gear Fourth gave me a surprisingly accurate picture in my head.
Rereading this chapter, I just fucking love Luffy's expression in Gear 4. The marking around his eyes and his serious face just do it for me. I love it when jokester protags get serious. That duality just makes the moment feel even better.
I'm confused, I was promised a double issue and I only received a single chapter. Hope next one gives us some insight on how he's still elastic while using haki, and why his arm stayed the same size in that last attack instead of getting smaller as it stretched.
There's always 1 person every "double issue" lol.
Essentially, Jump puts out 52 magazine volumes of manga every year (to go with every week, see?). During break weeks like Golden week or some other holidays where they don't release a magazine, they compensate by having double issues that are called double issues not at all because they contain twice as much content, but purely to maintain the weekly numbering order. So this week's magazine... mangazine issue will be volume 22-23, as opposed to just 22 (I'm making the volume numbers up just to give an example mind you).
Now that's just silly and confusing. I could have sworn there were times when two chapters came out at once though, what do they call that since it can't be called double issue?
There are exceptions, like Fairy Tale sometimes releases 2 chapters at once but they're a different magazine as opposed to Shonen Jump. Jump from what I can tell only does extended issues on a manga's first ever chapter, second chapter and sometimes it's last chapter (for the manga's that don't get cancelled suddenly). I can't really think of an example where they've broken that structure, but I could always be wrong
