If Whitebeard is the kind of guy to take Ace in even when he attempts to kill him over a hundred times then goes to save his life when he disobeys an order...I'm pretty sure he'll extend help to Luffy, lol.

I don't see Whitebeard wanting to be the Pirate King at this point. I'm pretty sure he wants that for someone from the next generation. IE Ace, or if Ace meets his end, then possibly Luffy.

Hmmm i always thought it was every pirate-captain's goal to become pirate king at some point... but yea, it does look like whitebeard is the kind of guy to help/team up with luffy.

Still wondering though, if there are pirates that much more powerful than luffy's rubber stuff, he needs some serious power-ups to be able to compete for the crown...

I can already see how Luffy is going to be able to power up to compete with some people. Haki can get you to fight Logia types (as shown by Rayleigh) and we know Luffy has that power to some degree. And then vs something like Ao Kiji he'll just do an advanced gear 2nd, pump his blood so fast it generates enough heat to melt the ice.

While I can see some other amazing skills coming into play, Luffy just needs to get more power (standard for this type of story) and he has the ability to do it all. As well, Luffy doesn't need to beat everyone at everything, he has a crew for a reason.

Luffy has yet to show any ability to keep up with a Marine Admiral. He definitely doesn't have enough to fight Kizaru. All that needs to happen in the next chapter

Oh I didn't mean to say he's going to be doing anything this arc. I just mean down the line when it's necessary. Most likely Luffy will only get into fights where he can receive backup in this arc. He'll very possibly still show an improvement in powers, we still don't know the full effects the hormones and poison had on him overall. He pulled gear 2nd/3rd out of willpower, his poison survival was based on willpower, he will get stronger just doing some fights. Of which he's had quite a few since seeing Ao Kiji and Kizaru.

I see the remainder of this arc dealing with Luffy to mostly just be story and possibly a "power up" in some sorts from meeting some really strong guys that'll help him out in some way. If he fights anyone it'll be someone easy or something quick. This arc is Whitebeard vs Marines, Luffy really is a "small fry" in this arc. But I guess we'll see, it sorta takes the drama out of it if Luffy went through all this to save Ace but in the end everything he did didn't matter when it came to saving him.

It's possible Luffy is the one to free Ace and jumps onto the platform first to defend Ace from any attempts at his life and has to fight some super strong dude, but I see Boa or Whitebeard saving him in some manner. I think the biggest thing I'm wondering about for this arc is what Coby/Helmeppo/Garp are going to do about it all.

And I don't think too many people know Luffy's heritage yet.

I'm pretty sure Ace is older. They're brothers just because they grew up together, not because of blood.

And while Garp knows Luffy's heritage he's not exactly telling everyone. Garp protected Ace's secret for years and he was just honoring an enemies wish, Luffy is his blood, I'm sure he'll be kept secret just as well if not more than Ace by Garp.

Luffy hahaha...I can't believe he say that casually after all this time. Good chapter in overall, the flashback were moving a bit too fast I guess, but it's easy to fill the hole I supose.

He's probably doing this for show, I doubt they can be beaten by 2 tidal waves. >.> If he wanted to get serious he'd use his earthquake power and sink the whole fucking island.

Haha, this kind of pissed me off a bit. But then thinking about it more, I was satisfied since Luffy has done something like this before.

Is sengoku supposed to be powerful or is it unknown what he really is capable of aside from political power.
