But really, I'm not a fan of any show that last more than 50 episodes. I have to force myself to read Bleach and OP most of the time, even if there is decent part. The biggest issue I've with OP is the arc format. There isn't enough contuinity between island, and it really kill the story for me.

I would rather stick to 12-24 episodes animes that tell a simple story.

The only time I might have criticized OP harshly was in a bleach vs OP argument that is 2 years old now. I said both were equally enjoyable in a different way...shitstorm followed..etc. That was before the 2 years of suck in Bleach.

I don't like everything about OP, which is why I complain at time, but I definitively wouldn't say that I don't like it if you were asking for an overall score.

The chapters have indeed been very short and very slow to come out, but really the entire series is at a crossroads story and character wise, and I never doubt the ability of Oda to keep me wanting more. He's done nothing but raise the stakes for Luffy since the shabondy incident, I've got very few complaints about the progress and pacing of the story, 14 pages full of double-spreads notwithstanding. I never feel like characters won't shut up or serve their purpose (Usopp/Chopper's absence has helped that image), and this chapter is just more of that: characters built up then used to progress the story, instead of being some narration gallery that ultimately don't do a goddamn thing themselves.

I love OP but the 14 pages thing is kind of weak. I mean I'm fine with the pacing and all but I'm sure theres someone you can show for a page or two. Like Kuma or Smoker or Mr. 3 etc. With so many players theres always someone you can give an update on if you're running short.

Luffy vs Magellan next week in the anime. But still two more months before Blackbeard arrives on scene. Unless they add some more filler. The manga is still 10 months ahead of the anime. I wonder how they're going handle the anime when it gets to where the manga has been the last couple of months. Two page panel spreads with no story progression is going to go pretty quick when it gets animated.

There are a million little fights going on that can easily be expanded upon to fill up some time.

Luffy vs Garp [I'll blow you out of my way] Luffy goes into Gear 2nd and smashes Garp (Garp seems to take the hit deliberately) and is knocked off the bridge.
Luffy arrives at the top of the platform, and attempts to unlock Ace's cuffs, but Kizaru intercepts, knocking the key away with a beam.
Mr. 3, who had disguised himself as an executioner lends a hand to free the locks, but Sengoku finally plays his hand and reveals his ability that makes him grow large (kyojin no mi?)
His appearance is that of a Daibutsu (a large statue(s) of Buddha), he has become huge! Dai-sengoku throws a punch at Luffy, the scaffold collapses bouncing everyone off, Luffy tries to open the cuffs in mid-air (got the key back and/or Mr. 3) the marines concentrate a barrage of fire on them, and from inside a circle of flames appears Ace! End.
