I, too, am curious what WB will do now that ace is (allegedly) dead. I mean, he was all ready to die for ace to get away and now that's kinda out the window, what now?

Garp was obviously conflicted about the execution. Him and Akainu are on opposite spectrums when it comes to their beliefs on what the marines should be like. Had the executioners killed Ace Garp would have thought of it as his fault, for not doing anything, insted we now have Akainu kiling him. The executioners were fodder it's not like Garp could blame them for doing their job, he can though blame Akainu. Especially considering Garp had just allowed Luffy to save Ace. Garp must have already disliked Akainu and would have felt anger towards someone, himself, the moment Ace was killed, now we have the anger transferred to Akainu.

Something like this, but he should blame himself instead of Akainu right now if he want to be mad at something. He could have done a lot more to save him.

I don't know how to word it, it just feel like his action are a bit out of order.

No he couldn't. He's a high ranking marine. What else could he have done? He took a dive when Luffy fought him, and I think that was pretty clear to at least Sengoku. Blatantly fighting off Akainu or helping Ace escape would have resulted in him losing his position.

Losing his position and negating just about everything he has done or said over the last few decades because he has been a die-hard marine and even tried to raise Luffy/Ace to be marines. It's a tough situation for Garp, seeing a kid he raised as his own die in front of him just tipped him over to anger. A lot of that anger probably is at himself.

Not to mention he let his son get away at w7 (at first) and always roots on luffy when they find out he did something terrible (thats my grandson!).

I worded it poorly, I'm talking about his anger directed at Akainu.


However, I just noticed Garp getting pinned down in the first panel of the page. I thought he was already pinned from previous chapter. If he was ready to sacrifice everything he worked for to go save Ace, the scene make a lot more sense.

After CP9 arc and before thriller bark. It was around 400, but I don't know exactly (not really hard to find though)

In better news, finally got to hear Iva's VA. Shit was everything I hoped and dreamed, despite the haki part of that episode being surprisingly lackluster.
