I'll get b& before I stop using Windower. When that happens, game over anyway. Seriously, screw this game without Windower.
The issue is more that tons of 'legit' players use the unofficial windower, so much so that even SE knows it. (they cant promote it though) SE wants to revive Skillchains, do you think thats gonna happen with the mundane and archaic 'TP currently = <tp>' macros? Demonizing the unofficial windower is silly, even SE knows their official windower was just something they whipped together to shut people up - its not a claim bot and it doesnt cause you to POS hack so yeah... whats the issue again?
The title 'legit' users is silly when SE knows a huge chunk of other 'legit' users are using the unofficial windower because its more efficient - the uploading macros thing is great for console/PC users, it will be optional and probably become just another 'add-on' for most people - the more important question is: Was this worth an entire update note?? because ive seen SE make additions like this and they just tagged it onto the update notes on the day of the maint/patch.
And regarding Alleya on the binds:
Yeah, I'm gonna look into it, honestly I don't know much about it / how they work as is, I'm not really smooth around a computer and if they work, fine and dandy, I'll use them.
Aliases and "//tpsetup", "//wssetup" etc. commands work pretty well, but you'll have to open up the console each time you log in to start up the macro sets. I dun like using binds because I change jobs at least 3 times every day and it's annoying to bind and unbind sets. Honestly though if it ISN'T optional and they have enough time to check every single player's macros for useless cases like this, but not look into people who bot every single daaaaay then they're doing something wrong!Originally Posted by SathFenrir
Hmm, looks like it's time to convert most my macros to G-key binds on my G15 until this whole uploading macro thing is determined to be okay for Windower macros, or a witchhunt.
Moving from PS2/360 to PC for windower macros was the best thing I ever did. No longer do I need 3 macros for Sneak Attack (2 to change gear, one for the JA). I don't want to go back to that. ;-;
I'm calling:
OH NOES OMG THEY MADE KINGS EASY TO CLAIM AND MY BOT ISN'T WORTH $20 ANYMOREAbjuration and Notorious Monster Updates (2/25/08)
In the upcoming March version update, the following adjustments to notorious monsters and other high level content will be made:
- The monsters Behemoth, Adamatoise, and Fafnir, along with their higher-level counterparts, will now spawn on two-hour intervals rather than once daily.
- The items known as "abjurations" will now be able to be purchased from various Campaign arbiters at a rate of 250,000 allied notes per item.
- The notorious monster known as Absolute Virtue will only use each of his special "two-hour" job abilities once per two hours.
AND NOW EVERYONE WILL HAVE FKN ABJURATIONS AND AV ITEMS AND NONE OF IT WILL BE WORTH ANYTHING ANYMORE, WAAAAAH
AND WE WERE SO CLOSE TO FIGURING OUT AV AND NOW THEY NERFED IT OMG SE SUCKS![]()

People will complain about anything.
Again, the text of the teaser implies this will be optional. If SE really wanted to catch people off guard with this and bring out the banstick, they probably would have waited until the update notes to spring it on us.
Same. Originally, G15 binds was the reason I bought the thing for, lol. And I like it D:Originally Posted by Bardlet

God how I wish you were right Therin, that would be win in awesome sauce.
As long as they add some content to counter what I spend at least 6 hours a day on, so I'm not bored (i already find time to nyzul / salvage / enm / the ashu talif / campaign) then I don't care if they make KB a 5 minute repop timer, able to be killed by merit parties, and 100% drop Dring.
It's always the same people that turn every update thread into a whinefest.People will complain about anything.

Even if it did automatically upload your macros--and I really can't see why they would implement it that way--I think there's a better chance of the NSA filtering through your macros for terrorist activities than SE for windower macro use, that just doesn't seem to be a huge concern of theirs. And it wouldn't matter even if they did, because if it does turn out to be an automatic upload it's likely going to take the windower people about 15 minutes to develop a way to execute them in an inconspicuous manner.
For the macro saving, I think it's about time they actually put buttons on the character display screen for those. Having to remember the key/controller combo (Ctrl+Shift+R/L or something like that) is annoying. More-so when the only place in the entire game where that's mentioned is only in the help section of the POL site. (afaik [EDIT] Nope, it's in the Help Desk's search listings also...but I doubt even uses that thing, Shift+Alt+Ctrl+B/R.....jeez)
Anyways, it may not be made of win, but at least it's showing SE is back to messing with the engine again, which is either a good or bad thing depending on how many things break this time. Maybe they'll ninja in a fix for the PS2-sea issue since they clearly are neglecting to confirm it exists.
However, /console exec in a macro works with both keyboard and controller, so...Originally Posted by shaddix
I think the tinfoil hat brigade needs to calm down with the shouting about windower macros getting you ban't. If Squenix really cared about such things, they would have already implemented a system of scanning macros for suspect lines. Keeping in mind that a mechanism for quickly backing up macros has existed for many years, they wouldn't have do to anything more complex than make every client execute a silent SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+B upon login, at which point any GM could scan your macros in exactly the same way that they can already scan your text logs.
Macro and marker (<--- markers are a hell of a lot harder to re-create than macros) backup is unqualified win, stop looking a gift horse in the mouth.
Don't freakin' tease like that. The scale of usefulness would be shifted 2^1000000000 places to the right. The old list would look like this:Originally Posted by Therin
