Question about Mandau / X's knife

Been working on mandau for a while now and i'm wondering about the 3x normal dmg thingy that all the relics occasionally do. Can this attack crit? and will x's knife affect it?

Yeah, X's Knife's bonus definitely applies to both hands, not just itself. I did testing myself soon after I got mine and posted it in a thread in the noobie forum (and I bet this thread will be there before too long as well). There's a reason people put up with the terrible drop rate.

relic triple proc for 1H can be normal attack and crit attack

X's knife crit apply to both hands or maybe even both feet lol

We have a Mandau THF in our shell who recently got her X's Knife (she started Mandau after runs for X, and finished the Mandau first), and she is absolutely in love with the combination. She did some crazy 3000+ SA Mercy on some mob in Salvage last night.. or I don't know, maybe it wasn't even a WS; knowing Saku it could have been some regular hit. -.-

Actually, I just came back to the game like last week. I'm horribly behind on the changes that have been made to the game in the past year and a half, but I'll read up on all that with time I guess. I don't get too much playtime nowadays -- I'm taking two classes and doing initial work on my Masters thesis project. How have you been, aurik? (Btw, we should hang out sometime when I'm back in the Bay!)

The 3x Base DMG proc can happen on regular attacks, criticals, and SA/TA. It won't happen on weaponskills.

I'm not sure if it's possible to have the 3x base proc in the offhand on a weaponskill (mostly because it's always mainhanded). Certain things have shown me that additional effects will go into effect despite them not showing in the log (at least in terms of mainhand use).

The X's Knife will boost critical damage of every critical in either hand, it just needs to be equipped. I'm not sure of the exact boost in damage it gives or if it's static or not. I don't tend to trust Wiki numbers until someone has shown me screenshots or math.

Something weird I seemed to have noticed, and that seems to reoccur with Archain. SA and TA on greater colibri are typically in the 400's for me, and while I have gotten some higher than average numbers since getting Mandau. I did not get the 1200-1500's I was anticipating, rather, I got some 800-900's.

Admittedly, I've only xp'ed half a dozen times on G.colibri since getting mandau, so I'm not sure what to make of it. Think I have some screens somewhere, but I'd have to dig around.

Triple-base proc will never happen if you have the relic offhanded. Odd but sadly true.

I have no Mandau, but I thought I read somewhere that it works by tripling the weapon's DMG but not your STR or DEX.

(39 * 3) + fSTR + DEX
not
(39 + fSTR + DEX) * 3

I don't have a Mandau either, but I think it was that it triples damage rating + fSTR but not DEX or AGI bonus.

It triples wdmg+fstr. Pre-pdif-change, my capped crit was 204 and my capped triple crit was 612.

Aha. Now that you mention it, I think I may have read wafik saying something along those lines when he was first toying with his mandau.
