post YOUR favorite stand up comic

Laugh at me all you want, but Larry the Cable Guy is my favorite. And yes, I'm serious.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Why the fuck do people think Larry the Cable Guy is funny and how can we get them all in one place so we can turn on the deadly neurotoxin emitters?

As for favorites.. Daniel Tosh and Jim Gaffigan for sure. I also love Jimmy Carr, though he's more of a british thing I guess. He did have a special on Comedy Central, though...I love anyone who can turn a phrase really well, and he definitely qualifies.

Wow didn't realize so many people liked Jim Gaffigan, I think he's absolutely hilarious. (especially love that bacon skit posted on the youtube thread, and pretty much all of his Beyond the Pale CD and older stuff.

Also would have to agree with Louis C.K, Kevin James, and unlike most, I actually enjoy a good portion of Dane Cook. Comedic talent isn't writing your own skits, its not about having punchlines necessarily, it's about understanding how laughter and comedy works, and the inner-workings behind it. Dane Cook knows how to make the group laugh, and he does it in his own way. I think in essence he's kinda sold out in that way, in that he's just playing to the crowd, but last live show I saw in Philly was the most I've ever laughed ever in one night. Granted I then later watched his DVD and absolutely hated most of the material. So it's kinda give or take.

Also not so much funny, but Frank Caliendo is pretty impressive with his impressions. (Oooo see what I did there)

I prefer Alan Carr to Jimmy Carr (not related) although both are hilariously funny. Alan Carr's latest DVD from his Tooth Fairy tour had me splitting my sides when I saw it over Christmas. Eddie Izzard is f00king amazing, had the opportunity to see him live couple of years back and loved every minute of the show. Another good live act that surprised me was Dylan Moran. I wasn't a big fan of "Black books" on telly (TV show that he did with a fellow comedian Bill Bailey, it was only ok funny imo) but his live show was awesome.

Chris Rock's "Bigger and Blacker" routine saved me from many boring days at work on .mp3s... same for Billy Connolly's older stuff, both comedy classics.

Bill Bailey and Billy Connolly = yes. They're both the kind of comic that doesn't rely on one-liners or gimmicks, but can just talk, or in Bill Bailey's case dick around with a Theremin, and be hilarious.
