edit: forgot to mention henry rollins. he's not quite a stand up comic, he's what i, in a nod to mel brooks, call a stand up philosopher. being from the same part of the country as he is, whenever i get a chance to see him at the birchmere in alexandria or the 9:30 club in dc, he always tells stories about he and ian mckaye doing crazy shit in the early 80s. but i spoke to my best friend who saw him in birmingham alabama the other night, even when not a 'local show,' he's a combination of bill hicks brand of social criticism, while being hysterically funny(my two favorite stories of his are his first ramones concert in falls church virginia and getting caught by tony iommi(sp?) of black sabbath making out with the guitar that iommi used to record iron man)
