meh, wouldnt bother me, unless you canceled on one of them ;p
always just cancel on a GA whose #'s dont matter. Ive canceled my brawl reserve twice before for various reasons, such as another game coming out and it getting delayed.

Well they're my friends too so I didn't do it them, although I was going to because the one was saying that DBZ:BT3 was going to be better than Brawl and wouldn't listen to me saying that they're completely different, but I think that was because I was joking about getting rid of it for the $9.99 thing. I was offering to reserve something else but I just gave a GA -1 and paid off Mario Kart instead. lol
I'd start calling the store you are planning on attending, most should be taking signups now, and if there really is 32 spots I'm betting on those lists filling up quickly. I just signed up myself.![]()
heard a gamestop commercial on the radio concerning this tourny earlier today......they claimed the prize to be a LCD TV. Didnt state size, or brand.....just said something about trying your luck against others blah blah blah to try and win a LCD TV!

I think it's like $5000 + the TV and a Wii but I could be mistaken about the console. Wasn't too concerned about the details once I saw the flyers lol.

Also, is Zelda starting? If so I feel confident in my chances of dominating Oklahoma easily. Otherwise I'd think I'd have to go with Ike is he's starting. What is the starting roster anyway since that's most likely what we'll have to work with at the release unless some contestants decide to randomly unlock a bunch of characters before it starts.
How bawler would it be to get a semifinalist from BG there. Those of you who have the game, practice and make us proud! (I doubt I can make it to semifinalist, one of eight lolz, just from SSBM experience because there are alot of differences right?)

if gamestop existed in canada I'd kick some ass with lucas but unfortunately all I can do is cheer you guys on
If I have a chance to fool around and try out PT, Ike and others I am considering to be useful for the tournament I may switch but as it stands Sheik's moves are relatively the same and the speed with which I can KO with Sheik shouldn't have changed. Although, Lucas's huge hitboxes do intrigue me, as well as Pikachu's buffed Thunder and I think his neutral air and f-air are both different and buffed.
I think it'd be foolish to walk into GS and just try to win a tournament, no matter how strong Ike is, with Ike if I haven't used him before. His moves all look really sluggish in the games I watch and I don't know if I could deal with that lag. I think he'd take 2-3 matches of play to get used to honestly. But I know Sheik well enough that even in Brawl I'm confident I can outperform others who haven't played Brawl/May have played but aren't very experienced.
Cool, I'm glad they switched Link and Yoshi around on the character select screen faggots, anyway. I think I have it all planned out. Going to hope to win at the store, so that leaves a week to train for the next round. After that one, there's a 2 week break I believe, even better (optimism at this point is obvious). I'd be happy just getting that far before I think past that.
Normally I'd say the same thing about the Ice Climbers (especially since they seem to have a few good buffs, and a NICE FS), but that contoller setup seems offputing to me. I think I may as well try something new, since I have a feeling if I use them I will try too many of my old Melee tricks that don't work anymore, or at least not the way they used to.Originally Posted by Maguspk
Seeing that one screen with Nana randomly running off makes me think they really fucked up Ice Climbers. They now apparently desync naturally but drastically which is just dumb imho. I agree that alot of their power came in the form of Melee tricks which probably aren't in Brawl and you'd end up doing alot of the old tricks just naturally to no avail.
so i checked it out today and if the stores arent doing midnight release(such as mine) the tournament is held on sunday.
also, the tournament prizes for the individual stores are being provided by nintendo so no idea what they will be as of yet. isn't looking like it'll be the game though.
Has there been any word on controls yet? Even just for one store(as in a choice)?
you get no choice. it's wii remote/nunchuk i believe, as per what they have installed at the stores already.
I can almost say for sure that my store will be using Wii mote and Nunchuk. as for the stores that are on the list but are not having a midnight opening, they are suppose to have there turnys ether the day before or very shortly after. The store prize is a trophy if I remember correctly. I did enjoy the fact that Gamestop told us to go nuts with the $35 budget...
Just to make sure... they don't have Brawl playable at their stores do they? That'd be reaaal nice for some Dedede practice.Originally Posted by izembo
Umm not yet, with that being said I wouldn't be surprised if it is put into displays about a week in advance by the Nintendo reps...
playing with wiimote + chuck today, jump being on my left hand totally threw me off.
God please don't tell me the only button for jump in that configuration is up on the C-stick. Please god, oh please tell me that you can jump with some button... everything will be fine then.
No, jump by default is the top shoulder button on the nunchuck, whereas shield is the one below it. Either way, jumping on my left hand is weird.
